Very disappointed by our experience. VERY expensive, run down, too dark to read the signs (these alone were tatty and damaged), the glass wasn't that clean, though the fish etc looked in good health. Had concerns about the very large Snapping Turtle in a small space (he had an eye issue), but no staff around to ask any questions. A group of possibly year 1's were present and were just running about, as no staff on hand to educate them or gain their interest. Otters were mentioned, but their small enclosure was being worked on and were not in situ. In fact hoped they would be rehomed to a better establishment. Having visited Aquariums in other places, this one either needs massive investment or closing.

We have been here before so we new what to expect or so we thought. It was a real disappointment, the whole place looked shabby and in need of a refurbish. From the minute we got there and showed our pre bought tickets it started to go downhill. The 2 young ladies seemed bored to see us, there was no nice greeting we seemed to be quite an inconvenience. We started our tour ok with the open tank being quite a draw especially for the unattended children running around banging the tanks by the “please don’t bang the tank signs”. There was no staff around to keep an eye on things which was a surprise. The biggest disappointment to us was when we got to the otter area (which was one of our main point of visit) it was just a building site. We booked our tickets via the company website and the was no notice saying about work in progress or closed areas, which we thought was a really bad thing. If you are going to see something as your main point it would be nice to know that that area was closed and a note to say when it would reopen. We would have delayed our visit to another time if we had known the otters were not going to be there. All in all it was a visit that was quite a waste, with poor staffing, shabby interiors and poor displays overall. What a real shame

Wish I would have checked reviews before visiting this aquarium, £26 for 2 adults but can honestly say it isn't really value for money. it's very small and we were out in about half an hour. As much as I love the aquarium this is probably the worst I've been to.

We went to this aquarium yesterday at 2:00pm. When we first got in we payed the money, for a family of 4, and it came to the total of - I think £50, now as soon as we went in we went to go see all the animals there were a lot and stingrays which were open at the top, meaning, that health and safety could be at risk, but they 1- might not sting and 2- they should have there parents with them, it was worth going there but we thought £50 for 30 minutes was a bit to much but anyway it was fun and Time well spent. Due to a storm the area to walk outside and see the otters play outside was shut. Overall, it was an average aquarium!

This place has gone downhill so much in the past few years.
It use to be a lovely little place to go, but they’ve got rid of so so much!!!
Needs a really good clean!!! On top of covid being around I’d at least expect it to be clean.
As a family of 7 and paying almost £70 to get in we were very disappointed.
No large fish tank, otters didn’t come out at all, there was nothing exciting , the large walk through tank was dirty , the place is not worth the money at all , get round the whole place in 30 mins , kids were bored and we feel robbed !

In desperate need of a refurb and super expensive considering what's there. There used to be a large shark tank, that's gone. Tanks are dirty. Not worth the money.

This could have so much potential if there was a cash injection in to it as it feels tired and run down. It’s not a huge aquarium, so it’s not a full day trip, but it was a nice hour for our sons first birthday as he had no interest in anything other than staring at fish swimming by.
It should be noted that the state of the aquarium itself did not represent the staff, all were very friendly!

Very tired/dated. The laminated info cards sellotaped to the tanks just made it feel a bit naff. We made the mistake of travelling just over an hour to come and see it, and we were done in about 20mins including the gift shop. Bit of a disappointment. However, if we were in Portsmouth already for something else, and we needed a time filler / fancied a walk somewhere covered, then it's ideal.
Despite being a bit tired and small, the staff were all really lovely and welcoming and helpful.

Small don’t expect to spend long there, it took us about half an hour to go round. We spent 10 minutes of that in the shop. Quite disappointing.
