The Mary Rose Museum is home to the Mary Rose and the thousands of artefacts that were recovered from the Solent. Built between 1509 and 1511, The Mary Rose was one of the first ships able to fire a broadside, and was a firm favourite of King Henry VIII. After a long and successful career, she sank accidentally during an engagement with the French fleet in 1545. Her rediscovery and raising were seminal events in the history of nautical archaeology. After a 34 year conservation project, the Mary Rose is now fully on display within her purpose-built museum.

This place was amazing with so much to see, read and listen to. There is a huge amount of artefacts with explanations for all to read. There are interactive plans of the MR and each time you click on them, you can read about that area of the vessel. The museum is well set out and you are encouraged to... More

Really interesting museum. Lots of interactive attractions for kids. Doesn't take a huge amount of time to get around. Amazing to think that huge piece was recovered.

I came here years ago when the ship first went on display. How things have changed. Fascinating, interesting, inactive enthralling. Need to come back in order to take it all in. The history and science are great. Staff friendly and enthusiastic, always important. Well worth the visit, need and will come back

We have been visiting this museum at intervals for the las twenty years. This was our first time since the last refurbishment. It is a huge achievement to get the ship to its current state. We can now see the hull upright and don't have to peer through a haze of PEG. The animations projected into the hull bring the... More

The Mary Rose is a fantastic preservation. An entire museum has been built to house it and to explain the context and background to this Elizabethan vessel. There is lots of material: time is needed. Projections have been installed to provide an impression of life on board. This will help bring the boat to life for visitors

Our second visit to the museum, and it does get busy. But it's worth waiting and taking your time over, the museum really does the ship justice, bringing the crew to life as it were.
