We arrived at the Wightlink terminal in Fishbourne after booking easily online a week before, good system and easy to use. At the first entry booth we were told that we may not be able to stay in our vehicle as requested as there were dangerous goods on board, fair enough, safety first. But in the queue it was not made clear at all whether we could or not(?) It was a vulnerable time for us as a family member in the car had a 7 hour operation ahead and we did not want to take any chances. When I did ask a staff member, he did say ot was fine and was very polite and helpful but I believe booth staff need to communicate clearly to the staff directing traffic on board. Very confusing despite being very clear on our side. The journey over went smoothly on the 6am ferry and we waited happily in the car. The return journey was very confusing. We have not been to the Wightlink terminal for sometime and the more simpler system that was in placehas now been replaced by a chicane system from a go cart track! We went to check in but were told this was the lorry entry so we had to exit, queue again behind an LGV that had to reverse slightly to get in then we had to enter again on a mystery tour not clearly marked (bearing in mind we had just dropped off a family member for a major operation which just added to the confusion, but not Wightlinks fault on this part) We attended an empty booth and waited only for amember of staff to run across and apologise as she had to help the said LGV through the entry point, but she was very polite and apologetic and also asked if we still required isolation, which we did not. We were then told to follow the yellow arrows(?) But even with my good vision, I struggled to see them in the dim light. We exited our vehicle but when trying to gain accessthe the stairs, it was made very diffocult as a car was parked inches from the door (not his fault as parked as directed) Then, when pressing the hydraulic release for the door it was incredibly, painly slow to open especially as Ihad a driver trying to get out of his car sandwiched behind me! The deck or lounge area had a good amount of seats and they were well spaced out. I went to get a strong coffee after a very early start and not having cash at this time given C19 I was told the card machine was not working very well! Then when I did eventually pay, I was told there were no Blue Light discounts at all(?) They are given online for the ticket but this is not offered on board compared with other solent providers like Red Funnel or even the smaller companies like Solent and Wightline cruises. Disapointing as a perk when I have had to work solid through the C19 pandemic but the coffee was good though. I must be clear, I cannot fault the polite and courteous staff at Wighlink, very helpful when I did have any dealings with them but I believe Wighlinks investment is money poorly spent im afraid. Describing Wighlink? Lots of investment but money thrown to the winds, im very, very sorry to say nothing has changed since my visit some time ago (located somewhere on my posts) But it was a must given out what had to be achieved that morning. Got to do the pick up in a weeks time! HELP! Very nice staff though and ferries left on time which in hindsight was what mattered most on the day. Per Ardua 96…

Well organised, ran on time and even slightly early on the way back despite bad weather! Felt safe on the ship with covid restrictions in place. Managed to easily swap our crossing time online due to a storm approaching and didn’t want to risk the bad weather. Couldn’t fault and will definitely use again. …

One of the worse Ferry service across Europe, poor time managment, highly unreliable service, no compassion towards passengers, customer service unhelpful. Please retrain your staff, employ trainers from Europe or UK government to cancel their licence.
