- EdwardSanta Rosa, California1,953 contributionsNice Views of Portsmouth AreaThe Spinnaker Tower offers great views of the Portsmouth area. A section of the floor on the observation deck is glass so one can see down through it. There is an easy lift up to the observation deck. That deck is an enclosed room, not open to the air. The only negative is the "sky garden" on the higher level. It is small with limited views. We love going to place high up to see views wherever we go and we were not disappointed except with the sky garden. Staff was nice, there was a good gift shop. A good amount of time to spend would be about 30-45 minutes probably.Thank you for the lovely review! Sorry, you didn't enjoy the sky garden, but great to hear everything else was fun for you. - on_the_go_9876518,350 contributionsArchitectural reviewOur ship arrived in the Portsmouth International Port after passing this delightful 560 foot-tall tower. Very modern. Dubbed the spinnaker, it could easily enough be called the giant snow-shoe or the frame of a kayak. But it is a beauty. Truly an elegant entry into Portsmouth Marina and a visual icon on the waterfront. One does not always need to "visit" a piece of architectural achievement to appreciate it. Sometimes the best views are from a distance.Thank you for your insightful review! Our tower's unique shape is, in fact supposed to suggest a sail, referencing Portsmouth's nautical heritage. Thank you for your review, and we hope you are able to visit us someday. - paul812015Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom31 contributionsSadly rather underwhelming 🙁Bit underwhelming! Lack of information about the tower, no interactive screens working and no much to do, seemed rather expensive to be honest. Bit disappointing and the visit completed within 30mins as not using the restaurant 😕Sorry to hear that Paul, but thank you for your feedback and coming to visit us. - york100089 contributionsNot value for money. Dreadful customer service. So the website encourages you to buy a ticket in advance and there is a discount. Great. That’s where it ends. Lovely views but no functioning interactive screens and no information on how he various things you can see. The service in the cafe was non-existent. No welcome from the staff. Sat down at a table but staff walked by and completely ignored me. When I left and complained to the manager, she couldn’t have cared less either.Sorry to hear that, I will make sure that our team see this and we work to improve our offer. - S_jH81827 contributionsShort but fun experienceUpon arriving by lift to the first level there was a glass floor, huge highlight for the children and grown ups alike. View was great as the weather was good. Not crowded so plenty of room to move around. There were stairs only to the top floor which is called a garden. We visited late afternoon in school holidays. Short walk from the dockyard/train station. Large variety of shops around the tower and plenty of chain restaurants. That is great to hear, and thank you for your feedback we really appreciate it! Well done braving the glass floor! I hope you can come back and visit us again. - BundyClubBundanoon, Australia541 contributionsGood to spend half an hour atWe didn’t pre book but it was easy to gain access. When you go in they position you for souvenir photos The trip to the top is quick and the lift attendant gives you a quick introduction to the tower. Once at the top you have spectacular views over Portsmouth and the Solent. Of course you need a good day. There is a section of glass floor for those brave enough to take their shoes off. You can walk up a few flights of stairs to a semi-outdoor area and cafe. I would recommend as about a 30-40 minute activity. That is great to hear, and thank you for your feedback we really appreciate it! I hope you can come back and visit us again. - BartonbearsCoffs Harbour, Australia1,938 contributionsA different perspectiveThis is a handsome tower that has come to be an iconic symbol of the city. After paying a fairly hefty amount, you watch a brief video before taking the short lift ride to the viewing platform. This is totally enclosed by glass, so care needs to be take to avoid reflections in any photographs. The view to the south is quite good, and looks out on parts of the Old Town and the Isle of Wight. The Mary Rose enclosure is visible in the other direction. A second, smaller viewing area on a higher level can be accessed via stairs. The gift shop and cafe back on ground level are quite pleasant.Thank you for visiting and leaving us such a nice review! Our team will be really pleased you enjoyed the tower. Lovely cafe for having afternoon tea while admiring the view, but that's it. So unless you're into views, its not that exciting, and the top two floors are accessed by stairs only.Thank you for the five-star review. - Lynne SWinchester, United Kingdom7 contributionsDisappointing High Tea experience.I booked High Tea as a birthday treat for my husband who was thrilled by the surprise of such a unique venue. We had a lovely table on the edge BUT as it was a very warm day we were extremely hot within minutes. There did not appear to be an air condition system nor a fan of any description which would have made our experience more enjoyable. A platter of sandwiches and cakes came very quickly but we had to wait 30 minutes before we were asked to order any drinks. I would have thought a pot of tea would have accompanied the sandwiches etc. We noted that other guests had two teapots to match their other china but we received only one pot which did not match, giving us the feeling they did not have enough sets for the amount of guests. We then had to ask for another pot as the teapot only served two cups. The views are undoubtedly spectacular but the whole experience was spoilt for us by the apparent lack of care given to supply a service worthy of the £80 we paid. Sadly I will not recommend this experience to others.Sorry to hear that, We appreciate your feedback and will make sure to take into consideration. We do hope you would come back and visit us again and give it another try. - AlisonTotton, United Kingdom1 contributionAfternoon TeaWe arrived 15 minutes before our booking, as we were advised. The viewing deck has really good views but unfortunately the air conditioning does not work so it was very warm and uncomfortable. We had to wait an extra 15 minutes which made it 30 minutes stood in an unpleasantly warm stuffy place. The restaurant area was not quite as hot as the viewing deck but really needed the air conditioning working on a day as warm as today. The afternoon tea was lovely but a little expensive for what was provided. We weren’t offered tea, we had cold soft drinks and to be honest hot tea would have made the experience worse so much preferred the cold drinks. This was a gift for me and a shame it wasn’t as good as it could have been. Feel sorry for the young staff having to work in those conditions.Than you for that feedback, it is really useful for us to help improve the experience. So Dirty for an attraction that’s designed for the sole purpose of viewing with a opaque blurry view of Portsmouth. For the amount they charge to go up the tower the frame is dripping in brown grim build up streaks and stains. The entire glass frame is dirty and blurry. Can they not afford magnetic cleaners? I understand on the harder to reach areas. But the viewing decks full of cobwebs and dirty view. I paid £90 for me and my family to go up a dirty tower with an even dirtier view. Save your money. You can see clearer images from your iPhone than out their glass windows.

As you would expect, outstanding views.
Friendly, very helpful member of staff on duty at the time of our visit.
(We felt the range of entry price options was confusing – for example joint tickets with other museums, but not if you use a “discount card” such as Art Fund which the other museums have, so the joint ticket is worse value than singles).

We visited the Sky Bar on a Thursday evening in the late seating, 21:30-00:00.
There was a couple of large groups and a couple of small tables booked in.
The staff were amazing and very attentive. They offered to move us to a quieter area as the groups got louder, and got us some more drinks. Staff also pointed out the upstairs garden area was open and would be peaceful to have a drink up there.
The views were spectacular and we watched the ships move in the harbour.
Selection of cocktails and drinks on the menu with some snacks. Lovely atmosphere and a great place to have a few evening drinks with a difference. Will definitely be back!!

Very very busy Saturday afternoon. Everywhere else packed with queues outside and there were seats indoors here and it was warm. Got served immediately. They only serve large drinks! It's not a one size fits all type of world so that really surprised me and I can't drink that volume so opted for an espresso which tasted ok. Chairs are metal and obviously designed to get you to move on when you finish because you will be uncomfortable by then. On the plus side, staff were friendly and visibly clearing tables etc.

The views are great. The left was very quick. The rainbow cake and hot drink option was great. How ever the price was a little on the high side. . And the shopping centre was a little on the high price side . Will not rush back

The views were amazing lift staff lovely first time ever visited.
We booked high tea in the clouds for 2pm on 16th November.
We had our tickets and treated our 90 year old friend for a early Christmas gift . She was really looking forward to it.
What can I say £40 a head for shop bought Scones which were ice Cold and clotted cream and jam in pots it comes in from shops . Normally everywhere else put in a glass dish with spoons.
Cup Cakes looked shop bought so did mini quiches and very mini tarts.
Everything was ice cold.
4 Types of finger sandwiches of which 2 were cream cheese 1 with onion and 1 with cucumber. Cheap fillings.
Tea and coffee was good .
We really needed it as Heating not working was really cold in there. And told Portsmouth Council will not be mending it till January. 2024.
Such a shame as if it had been good food was intending to buy for Christmas gifts . BUT NOT NOW
I recommend viewing but definitely not the High Tea I was embarrassed.

We’re looking at booking the high tea at the spinnaker tower. I can see it has vegan and vegetarian options, does anyone know what the vegan and veggie options include?
Thank you in advance
Olivia Scammell
Portsmouth, UK
Hi Georgina,
The vegan high tea includes a selection of sandwiches and sweet treats. The sandwiches are avocado with mixed leaves and red onion, roasted red pepper and hummus and a vegan cheese and cucumber. This comes with millionaire shortbread, fruity flapjack, raspberry and coconut loaf and salted caramel brownie.
The vegetarian high tea is the same as the standard high tea but with the ham and smoked salmon sandwiches substituted for extra egg mayonnaise and cheese sandwiches.
Hope this helps. Please call reception if you would like further information and to book in.
