Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The sea off of the beach is unfit to swim or paddle in. Signs are in place. This is due to raw sewage being discharged into it regularly.

Nice clean beach , mix of stone and sand. Dog friendly on whole beach when we visited in October . Nice pier and park adjacent to beach. Great for a day out with family.

Southsea Beach is a very popular beach with a wide variety of people from families, couples, young and old friends, locals, and tourists. Whether you are just taking a stroll on the promenade or going to chill on the beach or swim in the water it is a cool place to go. Just before sunset, you see people lighting up their little barbecues, and enjoying the fresh air next to the water. I would say the only challenging thing is parking, one to find it and two because it's expensive if you are going to the beach for a couple of hours. But all in all, it's worth it, to just go and walk or sit and enjoy a picnic. Bring your own, or buy from the many little shops and restaurants, whatever works for your price range.

Always something of interest to see here. The busy sea chanel for the harbour.could do with more litter bins on the front in the busy season.

I've been many times but my daughter in law hadn't so we stopped off. Never gets too crowded unlike some other beaches. Very clean and tidy all around.

I spent a few hours at Southsea beach - having coffee, seeing a friend, going for a walk. It's a decent spot to spend an afternoon. Nice scenery, the sound and smell of the ocean! Great.

My friend and I visited on an exceptionally cold December day. However, we both really enjoyed the shore line and having a lovely walk. There were few a walkers, dog-walkers etc, however very peaceful and magical.

Nice views to the Isle of Wight. Amusement arcade and a few cafes/restaurants along the way - quite a few benches to sit and rest and admire the view. Quite a lot of parking, which is chargeable. Lovely Naval Memorial to see and pay your respects. Right on the common which is great for dog walking etc and a few hotels too. Hovercraft station is right here to travel to the isle of Wight for the day if desired.
