Red Funnel has a proud history of serving the Isle of Wight since 1820, carrying 3.4 million passengers to the Island each year. We have won awards for safety, innovation & service including Certificates of Excellence from Trip Advisor every year since 2013. Choose between two stunning routes: our Southampton-East Cowes (former home of Queen Victoria) service takes 1 hour, operates 365 days/year and carries vehicles & passengers. On board, enjoy free Wi-Fi, hot & cold food, a bar & coffee shops, or upgrade to the Signature Lounge, for a quieter club class experience. Our 2nd route connects Southampton to the world-famous yacht racing town of West Cowes. Our modern ‘Red Jet’ Hi-Speed catamarans take just 23 min to cross the Solent.     Day out with the the mighty men
    The ferry crossing started with a delectable, traditional cooked breakfast! This was much to the gentlemen’s delight and set us up for an exquisite day to come. The fine men of ellingham and ringwood were under pressure from the off go. Being 9 points down the gents rumbled through with som fantastic rugby. Reaching within a three point score, the might E’s won a penalty. A kick would of won the game, but our loyal captain Henry benson decided to go for the corner, much to the fans displease. A thumping, driving maul crossed the line, with Pat Fraser getting the score. The away fans were overjoyed! We thank the red falcon once again, for our safe journey home.     Great short ferry trip
    Brilliant, punctual service. Lovely short ferry across to the Isle of Wight. Good facilities on board for such a short trip including hot foot, cold foot, alcohol, soft drinks and hot drinks, pastries and all sorts. Very efficient boarding and de-boarding process. Friendly staff both sides.

    Great staff
    Travelled on a day trip to cowes. Booked the signature lounge which was great. The ladies on duty were excellent . On return journey they had to deal with a situation where people tried to enter the lounge without paying. They dealt with it in a professional manner and defused the situation quickly. Would highly recommend this addition to your sailing.

    Amazing service
    Having been travelling to IOW for many years but for the first time went with Red Funnel. From calling to backing my booking calling again with questions can not prize enough very helpful caring advisors. Once on the ferry the staff are friendly and very helpful will definitely be booking with them again fantastic service. Thank you

    Brilliant Ferry Trip.
    The whole experience was a joy from the beginning to the very end. Flawless, smooth, comfortable and just pure joy. We had a breakfast butty a coffee and a hash brown they were very tasty and just filled a tummy gap. I loved the whole thing and will look forward to our next trip on the red funnel boat.

    A Nice Comfortable Journey
    We had a day trip to IOW and went with Red Funnel who I have used before many times. Always a pleasant trip, comfortable journey, nice and clean, staff generally friendly and helpful. Main downside is when going early and wanting breakfast half the journey is spend in a queue as only 1 person to serve.

    The must enjoyable ferry route to the Isle of Wight
    Have visited the island annually for the last 10 years (Covid excepted) and always use Red Funnel. It’s a little longer crossing than the others but the journey up and down Southampton Water is magic when you pass the cruise liners. The journey time gives you long enough for something to eat and drink and to do some sightseeing. The ships are always clean and the staff very friendly from check in right through to departure. The check in is as efficient as you would want it to be with no need to carry any paper ticketing. If you are a caravanner or motorhomer the roads to and from the terminal are no problem and if you need to take on supplies then Waitrose in East Cowes is on your exit route and the car park is fine fir a Motorhome.     Magic !
    Nothing was to much trouble ! Phoned up before hand to ask them for any lifts on ferry because of my disability etc ! Went we arrived Southampton terminal we was asked to display disabled badge turn our four way flights on and we was guided to the lift on ferry ! 10 out of 10 for staff etc ,,we will use them always from now on ...     Service par excellence
    Had to phone Red Funnel today to request assistance hen we travel on the 21st August the assistance being access to the ferry lift because my wife is disabled. Their response was unbelievable, assured boarding close to the lift. Nothing was too much trouble really sad I didn’t get the name of the guy who answered my call. Really looking forward to our crossing on Monday.

    Smooth crossing
    This was my first trip to IoW (and my companion's first for 40 years!). We found a midweek bargain day return on Red Funnel and the crossing was very smooth, helped by gorgeous weather. I realised that if I wanted a cup of tea I should be quick off the mark and the queue at the cafe counter grew quickly and the cafe closed fairly soon afterwards. Great sailing, passed in a flash!

Another appalling Red Funnel experience, paid a small fortune for a return crossing, the boat is absolutely heaving with people sat all over the place, including the floor and in corridors.

Not nearly enough seats for everyone and the awful signature lounge sat empty (because they want to charge an extra £10 per person!)

Only upside - the worse it gets the more people will support a fixed link to break the awful monopoly they company has which makes them feel they can get away with treating their customers so poorly.

Once again put the prices up, paid a rip off price for a so called upgrade to signature lounge they cant even offer a true barista coffee all done by a automated machine the coffee tastes cheap and nasty. the sofas are grubby and the seat leans forward so you feel like your sliding off better off in steerage, non of the lifts work. its all about profit never mind the conditions of the wc’s stinking to high heaven. between redfunnel and wight link these are the life lines to the island and they abuse this fact because the government allow them too. absolute rip off company the CEO should be ashamed of herself. its about her annual bonus and share holders!!!!

The ferry service has declined over the year to the point that as a lock you can’t rely on them. With ferry’s being cancelled to often it is now exhausting not being sure if you will make onward connections, meetings and work.

The local population rely on these services to work! And we continuously get let down.

Hi S8142RCedwardc, Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. I am sorry if you have been affected by any cancellations to our Red Jet or vehicle ferry. While Red Jet 7 was undergoing her annual refit, Red Jet 6 experienced some issues with her engine, which led to some cancellations of her services. Red Jet 7 has since returned to service. We have also experienced a few cancellations to our vehicle ferry, which have been caused by issues with the Voith propulsion unit, as well as ongoing cancellations due to works being conducted to our mooring structure in East Cowes. These cancellations have been late a night to minimize any inconvenience caused. The Isle of Wight is being controlled by the Mafia, I.e. the Red Funnel. Way way over priced, disgusting service, always something not working, either no food or toilets. Hiked their prices by 87% in the last year. About time Isle of Wight took back control of the ferry crossings.

We do our best to ensure that all services onboard are available and functioning, however, there may be occasions where that may not be the case, such as when we are waiting for a specialist engineer, or critical replacement part. We offer a selection of hot and cold food onboard, however, our galley does close in the evening before the vessel shuts down for the evening. We review our pricing annually to ensure we are consistently competitively priced in line with other operators. Unfortunately, my husband managed to lose his mobile phone whilst on the red jet ferry today. He was ably assisted by the members of staff trying to help him find it initially but with no result. We then had a phone call within the hour that they had found it and he was able to collect it. Peace and Tranquility was restored! A particular mention for JoJo. Fabulous job all round and we can’t thank you enough

Due to gale force winds we were onboard our ferry for over 2 hours .
The captain and his crew were marvellous keeping passengers informed and keeping us safe

Amazing service. On 28th Dec about 18:00 while waiting to board in East Cowes we had a problem starting our car and needed assistance to jump start it. I reported the issue to the people check in booth and within minutes they were there to assist us. So helpful. Brilliantb service. Thank you so much

Absolutely no consideration for its passengers. Wanting to get back home after a nice day in Southampton my family, arrived 15mins before departure the queue was not long and there would have been plenty of room!! But they left at least 50 people behind mostly families and the boat was not even half full. Apparently it was due to staff shortages, but ?? There were 4 members of staff at the terminal doing nothing. Yet another example of completely ignorant management.
