About
The Grapes is one of the most famous pubs in Southampton due to its prominent location on Oxford Street and its historical connection to The Titanic. Formally a haunt for sailors and seafaring folk of all types, The Grapes now fits into the more modern cosmopolitan feel of Oxford Street’s “Café Culture”. The Grapes still has the all important traditional feel of a proper boozer but with a modern twist. The pool table, live music and big screens contribute to the popularity of the venue and the friendly atmosphere and efficient staff ensure that The Grapes is the pub to drink in. We serve a wide range of national and local real ales and have a splendid wine list selected by Majestic and a wine preservation system that ensures a perfect glass every time. At The Grapes we are real sport fans and show a wide range of sports to accommodate all tastes. There is a strong Southampton F.C. following (we are a 15 minute walk to the stadium) and on home games we are always busy.

Would highly recommend this hotel ,on arriving late 9-30 we were greeted by paul and shown to our room he even carried our cases (heavy I must add) up 2 flights of stairs , the room was lovely & comfy all we needed for a nights stay .little finishing touches such as toothbrush & toothpaste along with the shower and shampoo items , take away coffe cups as well as the normal cups all in all all the home comforts , the bed was extremely comfy I even thought of taking my holiday in it lol !!.. on the morning we were going on our cruise paul kindly said we could leave our luggage in the hotel and then we could collect before goi got the terminal, we realised we had to be at the terminal al before the hotel opened so a lovely lady called Justine who worked there kindly said she would watch for us until we collected our luggage, even made us a coffee whilst we sat outside passing time away until we had to leave ,so all in all a lovely place would def use again (if lucky enough to cruise ) so thank you paul & Justine for a lovely start to our holiday .😁

I visited the grapes with my partner and I must say it was one of the best stays I’ve had in a hotel. Not only were the staff welcoming and extremely friendly but the room was beautiful and smelt divine like lavender. Paul the manager was on hand for anything I needed and even carried our bags up for us as we had been travelling all day, he even Went out of his way and sorted out dinner for us in a nearby takeaway restaurant. I would highly recommend this place to a friend and will definitely be coming back.

We came to Southampton for the weekend and The Grapes, was by far our most enjoyed bar/restaurant of our trip. The bar itself was cosy as well as easy on the eye, but it was the staff that made the difference for us. The staff were so welcoming and friendly as well as keen to share local tips and tricks with us. Ria was an outstanding waitress, she really made us feel looked after and when Ria was busy dealing with other customers, Sean was there to make us feel just as looked after. All around lovely experience and will definitely come back. Thank you

Great three night stay in Southampton, we loved the twin room, found it roomy- everything we needed. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming, the street is brilliant, pedestrianised and quiet at night. Great range of local eateries and bars. Equally 5 mins walk to the marina, and 5 mins walk into town. Large walk in shower, lots of tea/coffee making stuff etc... You get your own entrance through a separate door, maybe a warning that for our room there was a couple of flights of stairs - not an issue for us, but for others it may be. Fabulous price and 10% discount in the bar.

We were staying overnight prior to a cruise and were travelling out of the Ocean Cruise terminal and wanted to stay somewhere within walking distance and this was perfect. There is parking nearby but the pub itself is within a pedestrian area. On arrival there was no lift and the rooms are up two flights of stairs but the staff offered to store our cases safely on the ground floor or alternatively offered to carry them up to our room. There is a separate entrance to the accommodation from the pub and the room was modern and comfortable. There was some noise from outside as there are a number of pubs as well as this one in the vicinity but all went quiet from midnight and we slept well. The Ocean Cruise terminal is a five minute walk away from this pub. We would definitely stay here again if travelling out of the Ocean Cruise Terminal

Probably the most famous place in the city where you can have a beer, due to its connection with the history of the Titanic. I was lucky that there was mostly no one inside and I was about halfway through my journey (Titanic memorial trail) so I took a small break for a refreshing drink. Inside there are many references to the Titanic in the form of pictures, newspapers and various interesting information. The business is located on the famous Oxford street, where there are also several other pubs and restaurants.

I came into Southampton a solo female traveler and left with the best of friends at the Grapes! Even before I got there Paul’s correspondence with me pre arrival was extremely helpful and kind making sure I got a room sorted. After a long day of flying, busing and training I finally made it to the Grapes and was immediately warmly welcomed by the staff. The highlight of my days was passing by the bar and being greeted by the amazing staff and grabbing a drink in the pub. Paul the manager has such a kind heart and made sure I was taken care of the whole time! But the kindness didn’t stop there, all the bartenders were just as incredible! Damien showed me to my room and was always ready for a laugh and chat. The ladies of the bar Jessie and Megan were the absolute best and always made sure I was having a good time! The grapes is a little family and I am so happy it’s where I stayed, I can’t think of anywhere better! I hope to go back and visit my fun family soon! Would recommend to everyone wether it’s for a quick drink, a late night, a vacation or just to meet some new people! You can’t go wrong with The Grapes

As a Southampton resident I’ve frequented this pub many times in 25 years. Always a pleasant experience. Nice decor, staff and selection of drinks albeit a bit pricey. One groan - fix the lock on the toilet door! There are only two cubicles - how cheap can you be??? It’s been like it for months.

We excepted a lot but the pub was a disappointment. Drinks are overpriced compare to all bars and pubs in Southampton.
Manager did not smile at once whilst he was behind the bar. But we`ve heard him telling off the staff for not being cheerful enough Looked like none of the staff enjoy working there.
Would not return.

Whilst out for a stroll on a hot sunny afternoon we came across this gem on Oxford Street. The Cask Marque sign catching our eyes and it became our first stop on an ale trail today. Staff are every so friendly and polite in what are very trying times for the hospitality industry. Well done to all involved for keeping a smile on your faces and for all the extra work involved in keeping us wet inside. Thanks
