Recently moved back to Bitterne park and was so pleased Anthony was still running this place. He’s such a nice bloke and deserves the success this pub has brought. They’ve now got a small seating area outside which extends the very small footprint of the...More

Called in here on a Saturday night with a group of friends to be treated to a friendly atmosphere and wide selection of beers and ales. Be prepared for a small popular place. There are a few tables but you may have to stand, this...More

I can’t possibly put into words how good this place is. Dan and Anthony get the beer selection spot on every time. It’s good beer, kept well, in superb surroundings. My life would be a sadder place without the Butchers Hook. I wish I lived...More

We had a pleasant experience. We are micropub fans. The lady serving was friendly and helpful. It was only the parking that was a bit problematic.

Bare bones tiny tap house. Just fantastic gravity pulled real Ale, wooden benches. No tv. No music. You can actually talk to your friends, mostly "this beer is marvellous" - and "is that really a balti next door ? AND a chip shop opposite !!"...More

Been coming here since it opened, usually have a great time. Friendly people, great beer good conversation. It's small, so letting people bring large dogs, then letting them take up all of the seats does not seem to be a great idea. The table that...More

Dear Customer, apologies for your disappointing experience. Unfortunately Vaping is something we have tried to manage on a case by case basis but occasionally people seem to be very inconsiderate of other customers. There are certain devices which create huge clouds of smoke and spoil...More
