    A first visit
Having been to many military museums in the UK and in France and Belgium, you would think that I would have seen it all. But this proved me wrong once again, another unique museum which fascinated me and I thought was well laid out. And to me looked very up to date. I particularly liked the gold jewellery, what woman wouldn't! And there was talking scenes which I thought that were particularly good. It certainly bought everything alive. Need to go back.

Brilliant museum well worth the small admission fee.
Brilliant museum that really tells the story of the Gurkhas in British military service and the countless campaigns they have performed on behalf of the Crown. I really didn't know just how many times they have been on active service! Well worth the very small admission cost to understand their contribution over the years.

Held my interest even though military history isn’t exactly me!
This is an interesting place quite niche - I spent about 45 mins and was captivated and could have stayed longer, but it was closing time. If you are into military history you could spend hours reading all the information boards which are well set out. Some of the staged tableaux were a bit alarming but paired with a voiceover that explained it all clearly. Good value at £5

A cracking little museum, it’s well laid out and has lots of interesting incite full look at the way the Gurkhas were created and the contributions they’ve made over the years for the Britain and themselves. Couple this with the great displays the museum is well worth a visit.

Located in the Peninsula barracks area less than 5 minutes walk from the town centre is the Gurkha museum.
It is old fashioned in style, glass cases with informative boards. It was evident that Gurkha regiments have played a large part in British history over the centuries. I was not aware that in excess of 100k gurkha's fought in WWII. By chance, we met the curator & he gave us many insights into Gurkha history. Well worth a visit.
