Very interesting
Oct 2020 • Couples
Having completed the Tailwalker100k challenge, we had always wanted to find out more about the Gurkha regiments. They're us a huge smoking of information here, in a very small space, though the booking system ensured that we were able to walk through, whilst feeling safe during this C-19 pandemic. We bought the Gurkha recipe book from the small gift shop, which was extremely good value, but would have really liked to see more Nepalese items, such as prayer flags. Definitely recommend a visit and would suggest you allow at least an hour.

Nice museum dedicated to the Gurkhas

small museum but packed with artefacts and weapons used by the Gurkhas in the various wars they have been in with us. Lots of medals on display and re-enactments for battles

Excellent museum

Nice and cool inside on a very hot day. Friendly staff. Cost £5 each to enter. Amazing amount of information on the Gurkha regiments, people and the large number of campaigns they have fought in.

Most Impressive and Interesting with a great Lunch
Feb 2020
I very much enjoyed visiting this excellent military museum. I went with a group. We were given an extremely good talk and slide show detailing the history of the Gurkhas, follwed by an walk through this most comprehensive museum. The staff were very helpful and informative. We were given a superb traditional curry lunch with Gurkha beer in the most impressive formal dining room, which was full of regimental silverwear. Definately worth another visit.

A great insight into history of the gurkha regiment
Feb 2020
There was a lot of information inside this museum. It explained how the recruits have been selected and thier normal living conditions. It was interesting to see what wars the gurkha have served in with diaramas to give a visual impression of it.
The section about all soldiers who were awarded the Victoria Cross was very moving. We would have liked to spend more time there but were on a coach trip.

Stories of the brave
Jan 2020 • Solo
Visiting the Gurkha museum was something I wanted to do but never got around to it, so today I went.

I was the only visitor in the museum which is a shame, we need to keep these places going and not forget our history as a nation and what the brave Nepalese Gurkhas have done for Britain and still do to this day

The museum is full of stories, interactive areas and many amazing medals, uniforms and historic events.

The stories are told by a very British sounding gentleman through a Series of telephones, so maybe they could update this a bit to something more modern, that means more people need to go

The entry fee was around a fiver, which is fair, you will be captivated for a while and if you have a vested interest in Gurkhas you could be there a long time

They have a deal where you can visit multiple museums for £11, there are a few in this area all relate to the army

Excellent museum
Dec 2019 • Couples
This was an excellent museum, made better by the fact my husband gained free entry as he has armed Forces ID.

Coming from folkestone, Kent, I spent a lot of my childhood with Nepalese/Gurkha friends as we were surrounded by barracks. This museum was very informative without being overwhelming and it was great to learn the history behind a culture I have been lucky enough to be exposed to throughout my childhood.
