Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a great museum for those interested in military and animal history. Such a brave selection of human and animal courage in action.

So much packed into such a small area, but not overcrowded. Wonderfully displayed and very informative, Friendly and helpful staff.
A few unique items to purchase and even a second hand book section, always great for bargains.
We'll be back.

I visited with a friend. My 3xgreat grandfather was in the 11th Hussars. We are military historians so we found plenty to keep us interested. Recommended for other military historians. The 2 members of staff on duty were helpful and friendly.

From horses to tanks, the history of cavalry is all here at the Horsepower Museum. A tank lovers dream if he knows a horse-loving lady she'll love it too. I recommend buy the 11 pounds pass to see all the Winchester military musuems.

Another of the Winchester Military Museums, It tells the story of the humble horse to the modern day armoured transport used today. Even if this Regiment is not of intrest to you the exhibits are very good, and entrance included if you by the collective Military Museum pass. I really enjoyed it.

Interesting and well laid out little museum. Probably not a lot of children here who would quickly become a bit bored, but lots to see for adult history enthusiats.

A very interesting & informative museum - we would recommend it to anyone visiting Winchester. It was a very good record of the army's transition from horsepower on four legs to horsepower on wheells/tank tracks...

This museum forms part of the cluster of Military Museums in and around the Peninsula Barracks in Winchester..... which is a fantastic setting.
The museum comprises a collection of uniforms, medals, weapons, paintings, photographs, regimental silver etc. and it traces the history of The King's Royal Hussars and its predecessor regiments from their foundation in 1715 to the present day. The museum has recently re-opened after extensive refurbishment.
A highlight is of course the association with the Charge of Light Brigade.
The museum is very well laid out and you walk through each era quite easily.
For only £2 to go in you cannot go wrong. They have used the space very effectively,
Parking is directly outside. If you ask for a pass at the desk they will provide it for you free of charge.
