As it was Sunday we parked nearby in the free car park. We walked around the park which was extremely peaceful and refreshing after the hustle and bustle of Winchester Town centre. The walk meanders around the river and wetlands.

A lovely nature reserve in the heart of Winchester. Plenty to see if you stay alert, excellent for wildlife photos.

Located just on the outskirts of Winchester within a 10-15 minute walk of the main street. The circular walk follows the course of the river Itchen and returns along one of the canals used to irrigate the marshlands. A 1/2 hour to 1 hour walk depending on how much you want to stop and take in the sights or the... More

We enjoyed a very pleasant walk around the nature reserve. All paths were good and very well kept. Saw on the notice board that someone had spotted a kingfisher. Sadly we didn't see one but will return to have a better look. Loved the board walks and the little captions to read as we walked along.

It still amazes me that this is so close to the city centre yet so tranquil and calm. Loads of wildlife too. Definitely recommend.

I visited Winnall Moors Nature Reserve while visiting a friend living in Winchester. Due to it being March the reserve possibly wasn't at it's best, but it was still stunning and well worth a visit!

Live a short way from this lovely area of beauty. Nice place to unwind from the rat race and get some fresh air in the countryside. Visited a few times with kids then grab lunch on way home. Good day out

We've seen so much wildlife and many different birds here. My highlight was watching a kingfisher hunting in the canal a few months ago. Always enjoy a walk here whatever the weather.

You can either park in the St. Catherine's hill free car park and walk into Winchester centre taking this walk or if you visit Winchester for the first time and you park in Winchester you can go on this walk soaking up many different sites. You can walk by the water mill and enter this walk by following the river... More
