You can ask for the dole and get ale and bread as per ancient tradition. The gardens are peaceful, the church and great hall have interesting details that bring this place to life.

Visited on a grey day but well worth it. The primary school children were just about to rehearse for the Christmas concert in the evening in the magnificent church.

Sadly, this was closed when we arrived. Check for opening times before setting off. However, we enjoyed a lovely walk along the river to get here which we would not have missed. The buildings were beautiful, so we will return.
