We kind of fell upon this place! We saw a sign that said beer festival and it happened to be in the cellar of this lovely little pub. We were welcomed by Pete who recommended a beer and rhubarb cider. We then headed down to...More

Unpretentious and lively. Quirky but well run. The high class music acts in the cellar are well worth checking out, but there are a plethora of other clubs and groups. Or just enjoy fine ales and a traditional, convivial and female-friendly ambience. Nice garden too.

Visited here solo when down for work for the night. The locals were especially friendly and I was made to feel very welcome as soon as I walked through the door. The beer was excellent and the bar staff friendly. A proper log fire and...More

A really, really good pub. It's got character, charm and excellent beer by the bucket load. I had a great evening with friends and whilst they don't do food you can order a takeaway and for £1.00 per person they will supply plates and cutlery,...More

I last was in the Hyde Tavern twenty years ago. I'm delighted that it hasn't been 'improved'. The place has immense character. Beer is top class, obviously well looked after and turns over. No piped music. No jukebox. No pool table. Just the bubble of...More

Great local cask beer, occasional live music, no pretensions, friendly landlady and a wicked line in pork scratchings .

Don't get many pubs like this these days. Low beamed ceilings, wooden floor, dogs welcome, open fire, REAL cider, ales and locals! Chunky wonky looking furniture also make this place feel at home. Reminds me of a proper country pub, but in the middle of...More

We visited this great little pub while staying in the city. Very friendly and how a pub should be with dogs welcome, board games and a good selection of ales. We wish it was our local!

Called in after meal in Winchester for a drink. Lovely quaint old English pub. Very warm and welcoming. It was dog friendly. We enjoyed our drink in there and would definitely call again if we are in Winchester.

I always enjoy a pint at The Hyde Tavern. It's very rare you don't get a seat and whilst it never feels busy there's always a steady trade that points to the pub's great reputation. The staff are always pleasant and happy to help including...More
