A must visit

A beautiful cathedral in the heart of the city warm and inviting with adjoining museum. It takes at least 2 hours to see the cathedral completely.

An imposing but warm space with a wealth of interesting details. The choir and organs are a particular highlight as are the many interesting monuments throughout. It's definitely worth keeping an eye out for the fairly new stained glass windows by Thomas Denny depicting the life of Thomas Treherne.

We arrived just in time for the tour and the guide was fantastic. There was nothing she didn't know about the cathedral or its history and it was just unfortunate that we had to leave midway through as it is incredibly difficult to park around the cathedral and we were in a "one hour only" spot. The stained glass is... More

It's a stunning piece of architecture and shrouded in wonderful mystery and history. It's well worth paying the small fee to visit the Mappa Mundi exhibition and stepping inside the Chained Library. There is so much to see and there are plenty of knowledgeable people on hand to answer your questions.

Wonderful building and welcoming staff/volunteers. Don't miss the crypt! Mappa Mundi helpfully & enthusiastically explained by the volunteer & the chained library interesting - all at very reasonable cost. Don't miss the spectacular woodcut of Venice. Refectory gives excellent value and quality served by super staff. TIP: Hereford is awful for parking - but if you can find the dead-end... More

A spectacular cathedral which is worth a visit if you are in Hereford. The quality of the craftsmanship is quite amazing and there was a pleasant welcome from knowledgeable stewards. The 'chained library' is very interesting and well displayed - a pity that more of the books are not open and displayed so that you can see their contents. The... More

Great place to visit We had an excellent inexpensive lunch in the Refectory served by very helpful staff. Then went to see the Mappa Mundi and Chained Library, well worth the £5 entrance fee. Good time of year to go, it was very quiet.

Visited the cathedral on our way home from a hotel break. It is divine. The architecture .. the history .. and the fact that there are several tiny chapels hidden away inside where you can spend time with your own thoughts and prayers. Well worth a visit.
