This beautiful building - set over 3 floors - is an insight into how the house looked in the 1600’s. The ground floor is a shop and exhibitions whilst the first floor is a reconstruction of how it would have looked as a kitchen / living area whilst the top floor are the bedrooms. The museum is interactive so you are encouraged to try out, for example, the tiny beds. The 2 staff during our visit were both very good and informative.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 June 2023

Beautiful setting, dressed with Tudor and medieval furniture. In one bedroom, you could try out the bed, and on the first floor, you could choose to dress up and pretend to be of the period. Which I did, even though I am 70! Took me a while to climb the twisting wooden stairs, but there was no pressure. Really enjoyed my visit!Visited July 2023Written 25 July 2023
- JCB20075 contributionsFirst visit to HerefordWe didn't visit the black & white Museum on this visit but we did visit the Cathedral and Mappi Mundi Chained Library. The Cathedral is free (donations) but there is £6 per adult charge to see the Mappi Mundi and Library. Plenty of shops to explore, we ate in the indoor market which had a communal seating area surrounded by different food vendors. One street has a number of European supermarkets which had some interesting foods on offer and delicious looking cakes. We parked at the bus station (£8 for 6 hours). Public toilets are at the bus station but were a bit hit and miss if always open.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 September 2023

Great little museum for the cost . Interactive with the chance for dressing up in periodic custom. Good for young children. Curator was very informative.

An interesting and architecturally lovely black and white house slap bang in the middle of Hereford, very engaging volunteers and lots to look at and read, well worth the small entrance cost

It is brilliant museum to visit. Trip Advisor says it is free, it isn't, but we'll worth a visit....

We visited on a bank holiday Monday when the museum was pretty quite - the kids (10 and 12) enjoyed their time especially the dressing up - the adults enjoyed reading about local history and seeing the authentic recreation of the rooms.
After we left and went home we realised our son had left his phone at the museum - I called up and they were very kind to find it and keep it safe over night. Top people and a nice little museum with shop

I think it's about £2.50, certainly not a lot compared to other attractions and good value for money.
