- Monbo56New York City, New York41 contributionsGreat value for money.Thoroughly enjoyable visit today. Lots of mud but the rain held off. Kids loved the play area and the rope swings dotted around the lake walk. Maze was challenging and kids and adults loved it! Castle was great to see and the mouse spotting activity kept the kids engaged. Cafe isn't the best- they could do a lot more with it and make it more value for money too. Overall, a fantastic day and not too expensive to get in.Thank you for your kind review; we're so pleased to read you enjoyed your day out at Eastnor. So much to do and see. Well set up for kids and amazingly dog friendly. Reasonably priced too. - goodguyjasLondon, United Kingdom1,218 contributionsStunning castle in a gorgeous setting with lovely lake and parkland to enjoy. Superb day out.Wonderful castle in a beautiful setting with glorious park land and lake. Close to the stunning Malvern Hills and Ledbury. The Castle is a family home and very well maintained. It’s not ancient hence the level of preservation but it ticks all the boxes of a fantasy and romantic view of an English castle. The interior has a good selection of incredibly furnished rooms and the level of decor and ornamentation is staggering. The amount of rooms you see is more than enough to feel you have had good value for money. Lots see, read and staff on hand to help and answer questions. Outside there is the exterior to marvel at and walk around the lake with great photos to be had. The parkland with gorgeous trees, birds and plants offer further experiences and pleasant walks to enjoy whether alone or with families. The small cafe and outside area is a great pit stop for a snack. They also have ice cream outside. There is a maze for kids and picnics are encouraged. It is close to a SUV activity centre too. The shop at the entrance has quality souvenirs. Great value for money for a day out. Even with the park only ticket. Spent a very nice day here and will be back.Thank you very much for your delightful review and we very much look forward to welcoming you back again soon.Written 7 June 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited June 2024Travelled soloWritten 6 June 2024
- TibsEssex, United Kingdom133 contributionsVery dog friendly! We really enjoyed visiting the castle and doing the surrounding walks through the arboretum and wildflower meadows. The grounds are beautiful. We also loved how dog friendly this place is- it was a real novelty being able to take our dog into the castle itself and meant that my partner and I could look around it together. The only negative was that the cafe wasn’t great- no jacket potatoes and the bread on the sandwiches was quite stale- perhaps just caught them on an ‘off’ day!Thank you for your kind review; we're so pleased to read that you enjoyed your day at Eastnor. We do enjoy welcoming dogs too and know that it's often a pleasant surprise for our visitors that dogs can join their owners inside the house! A great day out for all the family with fantastic play areas, walks, swings and cafes. The castle itself self is a good place too. We go twice a month and love it. Look out for their events as well! These tend to be great for children. Go, you won’t be disappointed!Thank you for your kind review and we're so pleased to hear you're enjoying your Privilege Card! - Gillian H3 contributionsWhat a wonderful day!The whole day was wonderful. We have two well behaved jack russells and we visited because Eastnor Castle is dog friendly. In all the time we have had the dogs (15 years) we feel unwelcome at so many places and are certainly not allowed into interesting properties. Eastnor Castle truly welcomes you from start to finish, the house is a warm and friendly house, one can imagine actually living there. It was so nice to be inside the house, allowed to walk round and absorb the history. Tea room is lovely and the grounds are beautiful and planned very much for the visitor, a long walk is available with many seating points to sit and ponder and relax and friendly staff in the grounds and house, to talk to. A lovely day built around the visitor and making their visit a good one.Thank you for taking the time to review Eastnor Castle and we're really pleased to hear you enjoyed your day out. The best thing was our dog was allowed into the castle, everywhere we went he went. Thank you for doing that, would not have visited the castle. Will return again on a day that hopefully is not raining. Well worth a visit and value for money. - Caroline C2 contributionsCafe disappointingThoroughly enjoyable and interesting visit to this property. However the paper/ wooden / cups and cutlery and polystyrene food containers in the cafe very disappointing. When I asked why crockery was not used I was told it was " easier for the Staff!" We were going to have lunch here but decided against it for the above reason.Visited September 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 27 September 2024
- Russell25 contributionsAstoundingly good.Dog friendly outside and, amazingly, inside the Castle. Astoundingly rich and varied interior covering various centuries even though the structure had been built about 1830 as a replica of a medieval castle. The staff were ever so knowledgeable and welcoming...it was too wet to explore the gardens but the Castle was undoubtedly the best stately home like experience I ve been to in 50 years of adult life. Well organised and administered with web based ticketing as well as on arrival and free to Historic Houses members. Reasonably priced as well. Has a cafe with home made soups , also dog friendly (the cafe!), and snacks.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 September 2024

Plenty of interesting things to see and a useful video for upstairs. A very good day out and highlight for the area. ‘Mature couple’ Visited Sunday (weather overcast but dry) coinciding with display of ‘emergency’ Services ideal for the kids. Whole venue is geared towards kids activities and is dog friendly.
Didn’t feel like walking the very large grounds & arboretum so went straight into castle. Nicely displayed but very very similar to many other country ‘piles’. Can’t say saw anything unusual.
Having been to a number of similar places recently pleasantly surprised at the proportional approach to Covid measures. Having said that, felt like the one way system round the house gave you a shorter tour than Pre Covid.
It was pretty busy and as result off putting queue for the cafe. Also all the tables in the courtyard were full. We didn’t stop.
We used our Historic Houses cards. Booking/software was good ‘for the times’ and as such we avoided the £13pp entry charge.
Sorry I don’t feel it was worth the full charge but plenty of people clearly felt it was.

We love Eastnor Castle - lovely grounds, spectacular views and a fascinating and varied day out. Yet we spent a lot of out experience yesterday feeling rather anxious.
We arrived at 10:40; opening was 10:30. Despite advice that there would be plenty of parking and to leave space between cars on the website, this was clearly not being followed or enforced. The regular car park was near full already and cars were being parked with no sense of social distancing. Likewise, the entrance was indoors and with no signs up to wear masks. As a consequence visitors were walking through an indoor environment with no masks, in clear defiance of government regulations and there was no challenge. As there was no timed tickets to visit, children’s play areas were swamped and parents clearly not supporting any sense of one way system where it was signposted or social distancing. I’m sure there were reduced numbers visiting and this was being capped, but because of the nature of the environment, the bulk of visitors were all clustered around the same places.
There was a dinosaur/wild animal presentation taking place, which did require timed ticket booking. That said, staff were only checking tickets just before the shows started, meaning dozens of people were already in the taped off area prior. The show was absolutely fantastic, but again children, and often their parents, were not following any sense of safety.

Thank you for taking the time to review Eastnor Castle.
We’re sorry to hear you had an anxious visit and that our Covid-19 procedures were not in line with your expectations. The decision to re-open the castle and grounds was something we considered very carefully and was made having taken extensive guidance from Visit England, Historic Houses and our own external Health & Safety Consultant.
We do have signage at our Visitor Entrance asking visitors to wear a face covering but following your feedback we have now made the signage bigger.
We do not offer timed tickets to visit as we have capped our visitor numbers at a third of our usual capacity. As you saw, we have signs up advising parents to observe social distancing and at various times throughout the day we have members of staff managing the flow of visitors in and out of the playground. We do rely on visitors themselves to adhere to social distancing regulations and we refer to this at several points throughout the booking process and on the grounds map given out on entry. Away from the playgrounds we have 100 acres of grounds which visitors can explore, enabling them to socially distance effectively.
We do also have staff monitoring the car park at various times throughout the day but again we hope visitors will exercise their own judgement of social distancing on arrival.
We did have timed tickets for the Dinosaur Show as we know from previous years that the shows are very popular. The shows were limited to 300 tickets but as this is way below the 500 capacity we were advised we could safely host on the Valley Lawn, we did not feel it necessary to clear the area before allowing others in.
Again, we are sorry if you feel our procedures were lacking but we have incorporated all of the relevant guidance into our opening plans to ensure our visitors are as safe as possible.

we visited this castle for a family wedding. It is set within extensive grounds and you arrive at the main entrance by a long winding drive. Inside reception rooms are decorated is a period sytle with tapestries and many oil paintings on the walls. The wedding was held in the main hall which was later cleared and reset for the banquet. The food was excellent and the staff were very helpful. There is also a bar facility. Bedrooms are available as well which we understand from others were very nice. There are also houses on the estate which can be rented. Immediately outside the main entrance is a large carpark for guests.

A great day out if you are visiting the local area. We especially enjoyed the lake and woodland walks (would recommend using a baby carrier rather than pram if you have a young family like us) with amazing views of the castle. We felt the self-guided house tour was worth doing but could have been improved with written information in the rooms about the house and artefacts on show although the guides in each room were very friendly. There is an excellent range of outdoor play areas and a maze which we think toddlers to under 12s would love (we'll be back to visit when are baby is a little older!) and plenty of picnic benches available around the grounds. Overall we are really pleased we visited whilst holidaying nearby.

Thank you for taking the time to review Eastnor Castle and for your lovely feedback; it's great to hear you enjoyed your day. We do normally have information sheets in all of the rooms inside the castle which visitors can pick up and read but we've removed them this year to help reduce points of contact. The information sheets will be back again next year but we're glad you found the guides friendly in the mean time. We hope to see you again one day.

I've never been to Eastnor Castle before, but will definitely be visiting again. I'm struggling to understand the reviews regarding Covid distancing measures, as there are signs everywhere throughout the grounds, staff remind you to wear a mask when entering any indoor area and also wear masks themselves. I am not sure what else they are expected to do? In addition the maze and mini cars are both closed, again in line with Covid measures, and there are hand sanitiser stations all over the place. The lady hosting the wild animal/dinosaur show was fun and engaging, and also did everything she could to inforce covid rules. It was a fantastic and the kids loved it. The lady hosting was excellent. We explored the play areas, again making use of the cleaning stations which were all around. The Castle itself is stunning, as are the grounds, gardens and lakes. The only slight negative was the prices in the cafe, which we quite high. We will be back.

We are members of HHA so our visit was free. Covid safe but few rooms open and we were in and out in 30mins. We decided to walk round the lake, very little signage, we did have a map but took several paths before getting the right one. We weren't the only ones, several people asked us which way. We had a sandwich in the tea room and as it was such a hot day just asked for tap water we were charged 10p a glass!

Thank you for taking the time to review Eastnor Castle and we do hope you enjoyed your day despite some of the points you've raised. As with all businesses, we have had to adapt our offering to ensure we are Covid-safe and as such, the tour around the house has been altered slightly to ensure there are no pinch points. We're sorry to hear you found the map unhelpful, we will bear that feedback in mind when producing the grounds map in the future. We do charge 10p for a compostable cup in the Tea Room but we have a notice up advising that there is no charge for water if you are using your own cup or bottle. This is in line with many other refreshment outlets and is a way of helping us do our bit to protect the environment. Drinking water is also readily available (and free) from a tap on the Valley Lawn.

We booked our tickets a couple of days before as we new the weather was going to be nice over Easter. It turned out to be very busy when we arrived and parked close by in a field. We decided to do the walk around the lake as soon as we arrived which took in some lovely views of the castle. We stopped for a picnic and enjoyed the view. We had a walk round the inside of the castle which was mildly interesting. I would highly recommend the food and ice creams when visiting which were all reasonably priced. The castle and its surroundings are very pretty and at £14 the entrance fee wasn’t too expensive. We all had a great time and would recommend a visit although opening dates are limited throughout the year.

A great property and great grounds. The interiors are wonderful .. do take the time to read the information cards in each of the downstairs rooms as they really bring the furniture, wall decorations and properties to life. Behold the Italian love chest, the Viennese chairs, the armour, the 10-year Turkish carpet, the ship made by prisoners of the Napoleonic War, the animatronic clock, the marble cabinets and so much more.
Once you are done with the main event you can while away hours walking around the peaceful lake and in the arboretum (which is hilly by the way). We visited on a bank holiday Monday and it never felt busy, let alone crowded.
Just one tip ... they really should revise their entrance ticketing. Many people will book online but when you arrive there is little/no mobile phone signal so they resorted to looking up our name. And then the lovely chap at the door of the castle itself also asked to see our booking of which we had no proof. Why they don't just give you a pass/ticket at the carpark office when you check-in is beyond me.
In summary, Eastnor is well worth your time (and compared to National Trust £££ properties) is good value. I'd recommend to anyone in the area

Lovely castle and grounds. We pre-booked our trip and enjoyed wandering round the grounds first looking at all the trees (although we got a bit lost, despite the map) and then we went round the castle which had some beautiful rooms. The owners obviously take great care of it and, if you have a dog, you are welcome to bring it round the castle with you apparently, which is quite unusual. We took photos of the lake from the battlements and enjoyed watching the swifts darting in and out of their nests. We also had a nice lunch sitting outside on one of the picnic tables near the cafe. I don't think we really spent long enough there, to be honest but we had other places to visit so we moved on.
