Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Most interesting unspoilt and original Inn, dog friendly and an excellent outside area for smokers. Apparently the first licensee arrived around 1830 but the fabric of the bar is far older with medieval beams. Nice pint of Banks bitter at a sensible price.

A recommedation from the hotel we were staying in led 6 of us to visit for a lunchtime drink. What a lovely traditional real pub this is. Great and really good Banks mild beer, kept at the ideal temperature. A new landlord obviously knows his stuff! A friendly chap and very welcoming. We visited the next lunchtime too to have more of the beer and G&T's. We enjoyed the ambience of the snug and friendly locals and met the landlady too. A great team. We wish them well.

We came here on Sunday evening to see my Favroute band nice and sleazy perform its their home town and they play here lots. It was mine and my dads first time at this pub and we loved it. All the staff are really lovely people the beer was amazing. It's a really lovely pub to come for a great night out. We came back on bank holiday Monday for a pint. We love this pub.

Popped in for a drink in what looked like a nice traditional pub, only to have the locals insult my partner with sleazy remarks. Won't be returning!

Proper "local" just a hundred yards or so from the town centre and well worth a visit. Well kept Marston's/Banks's ales, very friendly staff and locals, nice open fires to further help in keeping out the chills
