Great cafe in a nice garden centre
We came here primarily to visit the cafe as I'd read on the internet that there would be gluten free cake - which can be surprisingly difficult to find in cafes. I wasn't disappointed and I had a nice slice of gluten free carrot cake which was lovely and moist. I had tea with oat milk to go with it. My husband was very happy with his choice too. The service was good too and the ladies loos were presentable and not unpleasant. We'd definitely return, perhaps for lunch, when I expect it could be very busy. After visiting the cafe, we wondered around the plants and gift shop. I didn't have time to see the house plant section, but it looked quite large. The outdoor plants looked to be very good quality, if not the cheapest. They had a good selection of greeting cards and there were plenty of parking spaces outside.

A garden centre with its own personality
Probably visited Ayletts for forty years. The very worst part is getting out onto the A414, can be very busy and fast. However worth the visit as it has a broader range of trees and bushes, annuals and indoor plants than most. Large variety of potatoes and onion sets for the allotment. Dahlias were a speciality, less so now. Not so keen on the revamped and reduced sized cafe.

Beautiful garden centre! Well worth another visit
Fabulous garden centre!! Really great selection of both indoor and outdoor plants and an adorable shop, loads of information on plant care and the garden centre's efforts to be more eco friendly etc. A very cosy cafe, lovely presentation of food and friendly staff that were helpful but not too on top of you. Although we were some of the last people their before closing, the didnt make us feel rushed.

    Great Coffee
We travel from Peterborough to Southsea four or five times a year and we always stop at Aylett's Garden Centre Cafe, for coffee, on both our outward and return journeys. This means that on our outward journey we have to double back on ourselves and this increases our trip by another four miles. It is worth it however as the coffee is always very good On our return journey today we stopped for lunch and had and their excellent home made soup which comes with croutons and delicious bread Although usually busy we always find that the service is very good as is the quality of the food and drinks

I had recommended my mum and dad go here while kindly looking after my dog for me.

The website says dogs are welcome but they weren’t allowed in for lunch with our lovely, well behaved and clean dog.

They had specially gone there. Dad finds it hard to walk and so I’m very unimpressed.

We stopped off for an afternoon at Ayletts. The dahlia display was incredible. Absolutely worth a visit in its own right.

The nursery was average. Great plants but hefty prices. I wanted a tiny heather for my hanging basket (£4.99)

Stopped in the cafe for tea and cake. After some confusion the order was placed. Drinks came 5-10 minutes later, but no cake. I had a good view of the serving area and cake was waiting on the hatch to be delivered but our server did not bring it. Our tea gradually got drunk but no cake was forthcoming. In the end we were out of tea and 45 minutes had passed. We decided to call it a day. The waitress said “you didn’t get your cake? Oh it’s here waiting to be delivered.” The paper ticket for the cake said 3.05pm. It was now 3.30pm - the cake had been sitting on the counter for 25 minutes with servers picking it up, reading the ticket and putting it back as it wasn’t one of their orders. The waitress said “don’t you want it then?” …. Err, no. It’s been under a lamp for 25 minutes and we have no drinks left, no…

We left and went to Burston Tyler and had cake there, served with tea, at the same time. Even better I got my heather (larger) for £3.50.

So disappointing. Ayletts, you need to up your game in the cafe to compliment the wonderful display you’ve put so much effort into.

We have been visiting Ayletts for over 20 years and always made a point of visiting the cafe, which was great when it was self service, with lovely food and friendly staff.

Not any more though! Cafe is now ‘table service’ only, meaning you sit waiting for ages to have your order taken by someone who obviously hates their job, and you don’t get to see what you’re ordering until it arrives.

A very expensive and unenjoyable experience - won’t be visiting again.

Bought just what I needed at a reasonable price. They stock a huge selection of garden stuff!
Thought we'd have a quick coffee and cake whilst there - but we were seated and waiting 15 minutes - nobody took out order, so we left. It used to be so much better when it was self service. You could see the cakes and decide what you wanted, and be on you way as soon as you like!

Had a nice lunch here. Service was a bit slow but it was the weekend. Our food was nice and the service friendly. Previously had breakfast here which was lovely. Definitely will be returning.

We came here primarily to use the cafe. They have reduced the size of it and changed to table service only. It seemed like there was less choice. A very basic selection at a high price. The garden centre itself is good but I don’t think we will return.

No scones at 3.30 on a Saturday afternoon - what a ridiculous thing for a cafe to run out of. The coffee was ok but you didn’t find out about the lack of scones until you had queued and sat down
