Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Jen hosted the WSET level 1 course and I found it very informative and interesting but taught in an easy going and relaxed environment. Jen is very knowledgeable and I am hoping to attend some of the other courses in the near future. Highly recommended.

David is an excellent host; it's a great way to spend an evening. We found it delightful, convivial and informative, with delicious pate, bread, cheese and salami - and extremely good value for money! We'll definitely be back for more!

My husband and I attended an evening on German and Italian wines in Harpenden. We had a great evening, David is a very relaxed and knowledgeable host, we enjoyed the wines and the company of everyone in the room. Recommend highly!

I've attended countess Hertfordshire Wine School evenings over the past 8 or 9 years and can honestly say they've all been excellent. David knows his stuff and adept at educating and entertaining students of wine in a relaxed setting. The wines are excellent and courses really worth doing.

We were bought a voucher for wine tasting & lunch as a Christmas present, and what a great gift it was. David who runs the course was very knowledgeable yet also approachable so that the experience would suit both novices & the more seasoned wine lovers. Would highly recommend & will also certainly look to book for ourselves this time.

Had another wonderful afternoon learning about wines from various countries, meeting people and having a lovely 3 course lunch.
David from Hertfordshire wine school hosted this afternoon, with his easy manner and extensive knowledge a lovely 5 hours was had by all 10 of us in the group, brilliant company and the time just flies, the restaurant is a perfect setting for an afternoon of discussion and learning about wine, great tips on pairing different wines with food and making the best from the wines you choose.
Thank you and look forward to seeing you again.

I love wine but wanted to learn more so enrolled for the level 1 WSET course which is a one day course. David our tutor was so knowledgeable and made the learning experience great fun. We tasted 8 wines, learned a little about food pairing and ended the day with a short 30 question test. I loved it so much I’ve booked up for level 2. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to learn a little more about wine.

I received the 8 week course as a Christmas present and not really a wine drinker but have loved every week. A very informative, relaxed course where learning is made easy. I can’t recommend it highly enough and will continue the journey into the wine world with the WSET level 2 course. Great value, great fun and an excellent night out. 5*

My fiancée bought this for me as an anniversary present (despite her not being a huge wine fan), and we both had a very enjoyable evening. We didn’t know when we booked that we were joining one week of an eight week course, but felt very welcome even though half of the room were regulars and knew each other. We covered Bordeaux and the Rhone, so most of the wines were red, but did include one white and one sweet white. It covered a range of different types, and we even found a few that my fiancée could tolerate which was a huge achievement! David was a great instructor, treading a good line between school teacher (with lots of information on a powerpoint on the region and what makes the wines different) to a relaxed taster who allowed everyone to just see what they thought and discuss that. He even provided some food to go along with the wine, which made a big difference and really added to the tastings. Would definitely recommend, and given we tried 9 different wines it was decent value for money for an evening too.

What better way to spend a cold wet miserable lunchtime than with like minded wine lovers at Thompson Restaurant St Albans in the capable hands of wine expert David Rough.
A very relaxing informative way to learn more about the very complex art of wine tasting and choosing the right wine to enhance the food you eat.David's casual manner made you feel at ease regardless of your own knowledge or lack of it.
The food choice complimented the wine and we all felt it was a worth while experience one I would thoroughly recommend .
