About
Burston Garden Centre is a family run business based in St Albans. Our heritage lies in plants; we source mostly from the UK and a large number come directly from our on-site nurseries. Our wonderful plants team are always on hand to pass their extensive knowledge onto our customers. We also have a wide range of homewares, houseplants, seasonal items, garden care, outdoor furniture, and BBQs. Our gift range includes candles, clothing, food, and cards. Additionally, for a small charitable donation, we'll even wrap your gift for you! Our on-site restaurant serves home cooked, high quality food. Plus we also have an aquatics centre, covering ponds, aquariums, water features, fish, and reptiles.

One of the larger garden centres. Good cafe, good selection of outdoor plants, plenty of accessories, free local deliveries over £100 value, separate fish and aquatics centre, large selection of cakes and beers, loads of greeting cards. Cannot fault it. Different products and specialities from its rival, Ayletts, so worth visiting both.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 May 2023

Have not been for ages . Sam the manager was so helpful . I have been scouring the internet to replace my large pots . I found what I needed. The choice of plants were different as they offered colors of hydrangeas I have never seen at fair prices

We were unable to shop in Burston garden centre today, as we were carrying our puppy. Can’t believe a garden centre has banned dogs. We’ve shopped at the centre many times over the years, but will now take our business to Ayletts where they were very accommodating. It is a shame that disrespectful dog owners have ruined the experience of shopping at Burston for others with dogs.

Congratulations for having the courage to ban dogs from your shop. I have frequently seen dogs sniffing around the food on sale - not the cafe but the food for sale. Much of the food is displayed at dog nose height and I have previously complained to the desk about this. Also I have seen dogs sniffing amongst the clothing so much so that I didn't buy clothing or food from your store. How refreshing that now people can visit without the worry that comes from dogs in stores. Shopping in your store was so much more pleasurable and several people there were saying the same thing. Stick to your decision - it is possible for people to shop without their dogs without moaning about it. Thank you.

Dogs were allowed 2 years ago but are now banned.
The owner seems to take on Gardener's World Icon Monty Don and all dog loving gardeners because of a poop not being picked up on his premise (according to a local guide). He still sells dog food and beds, but maybe he should focus on birds and cats or go online.

My daughter has just got a fish tank and wanted to have tropical fish. I visited Hertfordshire Fisheries today and last weekend with her to get advice. On both occasions the staff were friendly and were really helpful. Ensured we bought the appropriate equipment, but both times gave really pragmatic advice and sensible options about what to buy. Very impressed, apologies I didn’t get details of either staff that helped us but would recommend this place to other families in a similar position to us.
