Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I booked my parents and boyfriend on the Literary Connections Tour 11.00 on Saturday 2nd October with Jenny - and it was superb.

Jenny was an excellent guide, full of interesting stories, colouring the streets of this beautiful city with tales of literary and historical events.

The pacing was excellent, and she was a considerate host, answering all of our questions in detail. Perfectly pitched (by no means would we say we're literary boffins).

Great value and easy to book. Would heartily recommend.

Jenny was a great tour guide - 5 stars.

We had a wonderful tour of the city with Pauline. She took us along Roman roads that became medieval streets and showed us houses through the ages. She was a wealth of interesting information which really enhanced our visit. Definitely recommended.

Catherine was our guide. Wonderful delivery with clarity, humour and knowledge. As expected , our eyes and attention drawn to such interesting detail that would be so easily be missed without guidance. Catherine made the city come alive and whetted our appetite to know more. A return visit is on the cards. Highly recommended.

An incredible and informative tour of an absolutely gorgeous city. Our tour guide, Adrian, knew the history of the town extremely well and was more than capable of answering any questions we asked him. I fully recommend!

With my wife we took a 24 hour trip to Canterbury whilst staying in London. The Canterbury visit was well worth it despite the winter season. However we felt very thankful of having learned by chance of the guided tour organised by the Visitors Office (located in a beautiful cultural house). I would not add more from what other guests have written. We toured with Jane and she was just perfect despite her cold sickness she had that day (from her grandchildren as she claimed). This tour simply made us understand the historic importance of the city. We learned a lot during these 90 minutes. I would strongly recommend visitors to take it.

We booked (online) a Canterbury city council guided tour for Saturday morning as there were 7 of us......it wasn't easy to find where the tour starts from as the tourist information office has now moved from its original site, and there was no sign to say where it had gone (it's in the library now but not immediately obvious as to its whereabouts in there either !!) or where the tour started from!!!

The tour starts from two places: Christchurch gate, and Roman Museum - but first (unless, like us, you have already booked online) you have to buy your tickets! not so easy when there appears to be so little information on where to do this!!

We were incredibly lucky to have a guide called Trevor B.....who was really excellent and his enthusiasm brought the city to life. this wasn't the first tour I have been on as this is something I take visitors on so that they can see the city and understand something of its history, but Trevor's tour was very clever in that there was enough information to tempt the appetite - but not so much that the brain cells were swamped.......and very well presented so that even someone who knows the city gets interesting information. Not only that, but Trevor took real care to find out where everyone was from (i.e could understand him) and ensure that whenever he stopped to talk to us we were in front of him so that we could hear every word.

The tour lasts approx one and a half hours and costs £6.00. Well worth it - and I cant wait to do another tour when the next visitors come to stay!!!!

If you are in Canterbury for a short break, I would highly recommend this 90 minute tour. Our guide, Frankie, was very knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions. She led us all over town stopping frequently to point out small items of interest and to explain the history behind each. I learned more about Canterbury in those 90 minutes than I did clicking around the internet for information beforehand. It also was a great introduction to the city and helpled to decide what attractions to see next!
