Tucked away off Stour St, accessed via a narrow alley, Greyfriars Chapel is well worth the effort of looking for it. Set in the Franciscan Gardens & straddling a branch of the River Stour ,it is easy to imagine the lives of early monks in...More

I didn't go inside the chapel but from the outside the buildings look beautiful. The park surrounding the chapel is nice and peaceful with the view of the river. This is just at the back of the high street which is very crowded especially during...More

This little oasis in the middle of the city could be a million miles - and a thousand years - away from the bustle of the modern city. The beautifully maintained chapel and gardens are well worth a visit. Opening times can be discovered from...More

Lovely old building with lots of history, but poorly lit very drab with little else of interest no artefacts or exhibits of note, pricey for what is a 5 minute tour

Please don't visit I prefer to keep this all to myself ! If you must come its a very pretty garden with a small but fine church spanning the Stour River .

Not many visitors make it to these secret gardens. A beautiful discovery and there is a little church built over a river. Inside the church is a museum about the history of the Franciscan monks in Canterbury. Take a picnic!

I love this place and go there for a quiet pause whenever I'm in Canterbury on a fine day. There are places to hide away in the meadow or by the river. Beautiful!

This area is a lovely haven in the centre of the city of Canterbury. In the summer there are old fashioned English flowers and a beautiful meadow area full of wild flowers. The chapel at the centre is a very peaceful, ancient place in which...More

These gardens are like a step back in time, they are very tranquil, there are seats should you just like to sit and admire the gardens.

I love this hidden peaceful hideaway. I always take friends who are visiting Canterbury and even pop by with my young son if we want to take time out from the bustling streets.
