This is a really nice church that I ran into while exploring. It’s down the road a bit from the cathedral. It’s old looking and has a lot of detail inside. I really liked it.

I was looking around for a "typical" church. My friends had never been to a church before and I didn't want to start with the cathedral. Happened to walk past St Thomas' and it was open. Stepped inside and found just what I wanted.

Apparently, it is the only Roman Catholic church in town. Nicely proportioned. All the standard features: altar, stations of the cross, pulpit, lectern, pews. all decked out in warm wood. A glass entrance way so you can get a good view before you enter the church proper.

Nice lady on duty was very welcoming and accommodating.

Stopped to take some exterior photos on the way out. Realised it was a lovely building, with a self-standing, rather egregious, tower of ancient origin.

Nice, central location. Well worth a visit.

Situated in a quiet street parallel to the main shopping street, this church is built in the Victorian high gothic style as was the vogue at the time of the 1850's Oxford Movement. In spite of this, it is a pleasing place. In the 1950's some relics said to relate to St Thomas were returned from Italy. These were a bone possibly from his finger and a piece of cloth allegedly from his shroud. Both are displayed above the altar in a side chapel; more reminiscent of the continent than an English church

This church is hidden away but is a beautiful church in a busy road. Highly recommend a visit for those coming to visit the Cathedral

It's quite close to the Cathedral. It's larger than a lot of the other churches in Canterbury.
Canterbury feels like it should be in Italy with the number of Churches it possesses.

Tranquility and serenity located close by the crowds of nearby cathedral. We spotted this hidden gem while exploring the side roads starting in front of the gate to the Canterbury cathedral. Were only a few peopleinside and the vibe was nicely religious and calm.

I love to attend mass here everytime I visit Canterbury, It is quaintly English and a very Anglican style mass which only adds to its charm. Beautiful classical architecture fine choir and just a stones throw from the awesome historical Cathedral the, reigning established Church of England.

St. Thomas was just what we needed to experience the universality of the Catholic Church. It was like a home away from home and we were blessed to experience the baptism of 2 little boys at the Mass we attended. Really felt welcomed by the lady handing out the missals & song sheet!

After visiting Canterbury Cathedral, we were so blessed to find St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Church nearby. Not very large but it is quite beautiful with a very serene and spiritual atmosphere for prayer and reflection. Do not miss the beautiful shrine with two relics of St Thomas of Canterbury.
