Visited on a Saturday afternoon during half term and we were the only people in there. Apart from the girls behind the desk when we came in there was no other staff throughout the museum. There's enough to see and do to keep you entertained through a bad weather situation but it's not a must do. Although I would say... More

My husband and I enjoyed walking through the museum. It was free for admission and when we were finished with the tour we offered them a donation and they were so shocked as if they never receive them which I find hard to believe knowing how awesome the museum was. It was very interesting and the very top floor with... More

Have been wanting to see the Bronze Age boat for a while now and today we had the opportunity to do so. What pleased us most was turning up to find out the museum was free! This topped off a wonderful visit. Although a very small museum, some lovely interactive displays to keep children (and adults!!) engaged. We thoroughly enjoyed... More

This is a very good local museum. Dover has lots of history and it is well represented here. Plus the oldest boat in the world-a great thing to see.

This museum is a delight to visit to see the largest wooden boat from ancient time. It's exhibit allows you to visualise the era . There is a display of the flying bombs that hit England during the war.

Many people pass-by the outstanding Dover Museum in the Market Square in the centre of town. This is a big mistake, it has the finest bronze age boat ever found in the UK, possible Europe and the Koettlitz polar bear. Dr Reginald Koettlitz was the leading expedition surgeon and geologist from the Heroic period of polar exploration and a resident... More

This small museum is beautifully set out over three floors. There are themed areas with local finds from the stone age, bronze age, the Romans occupation and through to the Anglo Saxons and more recent. Each area is well defined and exhibits are well presented and explained. The highlight of the museum is the bronze age boat on the top... More

The outstanding exhibit is the Dover Bronze Age Boat. It is an incredible survival which receives a full explanation. The other outstanding section of the museum deals excellently with the long history of the town.

Take your time to visit the museum, one of the oldest in Kent originally founded on 1836 (but rehoused in 1991). The museum contains history from the Stone Age to the Saxons. Artefacts and models can be found to understand the history.

This is an excellent museum with the most incredible exhibit - the oldest sea going boat in the world. How come we know about the one in Egypt and Oslo, but this older one dating from the Bronze Age has such a low profile? Go, you will not be disappointed. It is a well appointed museum with delightful staff.
