Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Black horse is not so much a hidden gem but maybe undiscovered by some RTW people who may not wonder down the end of Camden Road. It’s run by the brilliant people who care for people who drink in the pub and always employ staff who are friendly local and welcoming. In recent times the pub has added a outside covered space for events. It’s really nice. Teressa will cater for any events you want and competitive prices . If your looking for a private party the Black Horse is worth a look.
All in all it a great local pub that has many different fictions.
If nothing else it’s a great local .

Friendly service. Real proper pub, with lots of seating, pool table, dart board and juke box. Incredible land ladies. Pub hosts a number of fantastic events. Definitely holds a place in my heart. Been going here for 15+years. Good disabled toilet.
Marquee outside with heaters and blankets. So caters for all weathers. Complies with COVID regulations.
Drinks reasonably priced and a good selection.

Really lovely pub - incredibly friendly landlady. Absolutely gutted they don't do food though. We came on a Sunday and would happily have stayed all day if we could have got some lunch here. The garden is nice with a lovely marquee and free blankets to use. All covid measures were being complied with without it being stressful. We stayed for a drink but then had to go and find lunch elsewhere unfortunately.

We were invited to enjoy a drink or two in here whilst waiting for a table at the excellent Spice restaurant (great suggestion). Clearly a community pub, we were given a warm welcome by the staff and patrons alike; lovely atmosphere, great music on the juke box and playful conversations around us. Drinks were served expertly, lots of ice & lemon in my G&T and the husband was very pleased with the beer on offer. We had such a pleasant experience we returned for a night cap! We certainly will be back, especially as we noticed the music nights advertised. Thank-you team at The Black Horse Pub #TunbridgeWells #Beer #Music

As the title says the black horse is a proper pub! With pool table, dart board and juke box.... Plus a beautiful beer garden.... which all of these things are very rare these days! T and natty are very warm, welcoming and friendly and fantastic for the pub, they have a good verity of drinks and all are reasonable priced... would definitely recommend a visit..... either for a night out with friends or a drink with the family ❤

A great pub with very friendly staff. Always assured of a warm welcome a well kept beer. Slightly lower prices than other places in the town. Fantastic band nights, local pool or just for a quiet drink. Different customer types so whatever your visit you do not feel out of place. Many superb places to eat nearby.

The black horse is a pub, it isn't pretending to be anything else. Its great to be able to go into a place and know that you wont have to take out a second mortgage because the owners have decided to turn it into a bar, serving drinks under a pseudonym from a supposedly trendy glass!
The landladies keep a well stocked selection of drinks, served in clean and comfortable surroundings. Whoever is behind the bar is sure to greet you with a friendly smile and a polite attitude.
Its a lovely size pub, and they have clearly thought hard about where to put tables etc, you dont feel like you are sitting with the strangers on the table next to you and no where is a slog to get to the bar! The garden is great, with plenty of tables to follow the sun and in case of rain they have a handy awning to keep the smokers dry!
The pool table is great, positioned to be out of the way enough that you can play without people getting in the way but also so you can still be part of the pub and its great atmosphere, especially good for pool competition nights!
Its a real bonus to be able to still pick your own music and I love that the volume automatically adjusts so that what I have paid for is turned up to a respectable volume so I dont miss it among the chatter, but when its over and no one else has chosen any its turns down so you can just get on with a good old natter! Another example of the thoughtfulness of what must be one of the last proper local neighborhood PUBS in Tunbridge Wells!

I have been going to The Black Horse for many years now and it is a lovely, friendly local. There is a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere every time I have visited which is perpetuated by the owners and staff. Thoroughly recommended!
