Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited the ‘Magical Christmas Grotto’! Well I get it, I understand we’re in Covid times, but if waiting in line for 20 minutes for a pre-booked slot, having time with Santa and getting a sticker book for a film that was out in 2017!!!!!!!!!!!! That is not magical. You HAVE to book ok-line. The cost to see Santa is £7 plus booking fee of £2 so why not just say £9, oh I know because the gifts are absolutely rubbish. The amount of kids you were shoving through, you could at least give decent gifts to the poor kids. I understand there are overheads but 4 kids in 1 hour would cover all of those! Especially getting gifts that are 4 years out of date! 🤣🤣🤣 Don’t bother visiting, hardly any shops, rubbish parking, no food vendors and Santa is a RIP OFF!

I used the Royal Victoria car park, trying our luck with the contactless parking method - could have used Ringo but thought this method would be quicker and cheaper. We wondered why the shopper in front of us took so long, darned thing would not connect and register the card. We stood there for over 5 minutes trying to register and pay, and the instructions were rubbish. Stayed in the mall for around 2 hours, were charged £10.40. Crap, don't go there!!

Avoid, avoid, avoid. We all read about how retail is suffering and how shops are desperate for customers. Well, RVP is the best deterrent to retail shopping that I’ve found. Not worried that a whole level of car park is closed as there is still plenty of room. But, how many lifts out of action? How many escalators out of action? One set of toilets closed and you can’t get to the other set by either escalator, car park lift or stairs but have to wait for the single lift that goes to that floor - and that is restricted to single person usage.

It was just awful and I understand now why so many shops have closed down and/or left.

Royal Victoria Place - the best advert for online shopping.

Jan 2021. Cannot pay for parking with cash, have to use cards. Parking wardens patrol like rabid dogs after prey!
Shops closed due to Covid, still have to pay for M&S Wilkos open plus a few coffees shops.
Escalator not working to food court (not working July 2020?) only lift to use, so more of a virus hazard as everyones using it.
Lots of shops cleared out permanently now, never to reopen. How will they justify the high parking charges once open again?
Parkings cheaper in Haywards Heath, Horsham and much better shops, at least they have Muffin Break, which went 2 years ago from TWells.
Used to shop there on Sundays, free parking, but now have to pay, plus Fenwicks cafes horrible now. Love Jeremy's outside but its not open at the moment. Closed sundays.

First time in 20+ years and having been ripped off with the parking my last.
Congratulations must go to the people who commissioned an overly complex car park payment system.
I checked in, paid £10.40, checked out inside 3 hours expecting it to adjust but no.
So I paid the 24 hour rate.
Keep the £7 and I won’t be coming back.

The title says it all.

Only last visit (pre-lockdown) there were far too many empty units and subsequently the foot fall has significantly dwindled.

The gap left my Littlewoods is an eyesore. Despite various promises of re-development they have yet to materialise.

The re-vitalised food area lacked any atmosphere, and customers..in fact there even a couple that had shut up shop and gone.

The RVP used to a "go to" destination, but now I fear it's a "must avoid"

Shopping centre might as well close down. Nothing left - too much to pay for parking!

In fact the worst shopping centre I have been to in the last 5 years.

Chatham Pentagon is actually a better shopping centre than this.

I am shocked how poor the centre has become, having lived in Tunbridge Wells for over 10 years! I have never seen it decline and become so awful!

How things have changed in 6 years. When we moved here, RVP was a busy shopping centre full of shops and always worth dropping in to. Now, I have to say it's only a shortcut on a rainy day to get out of the rain. What has happened & what are the owners planning? The place has turned into a ghost centre fight in the middle of town. Is it going to be another eye soar in the middle of town like the old cinema. I was in another Kent town recently & their shopping centre was thriving. Anyway, fingers crossed that the owners or council do something soon because if M&S pulls down its shutters then it's RIP, RYP.

I live in T Wells and there are wonderful parks, restaurants, shops, etc, from the Pantiles along the High St to the top of town and down Camden Rd. Happy that people are put off by the Victoria Centre. We’re overcrowded and don’t need clogging up by tourists.

Popped into Victoria place as me and my wife was in the area. Forgot how bad the shopping is, literally the worst selection of shops around. Eastbourne, Brighton , Ashford are all better examples (fairly) locally. Then when we went back to the car we realised we had a ticket. Even when we was well within time. I hate pay and display at the best of times. Our ticket had fallen off of the windscreen and was laying on the dash board. Anybody with any sense would put this down to a bit of bad luck except this car park officer who felt the need to give us a £50 fine!! I even found the exact man and showed him out ticket (which was still in time even after all this) he was completely unhelpful and had a "computer says no" attitude! He couldn't give me his name, a line manager to speak to, a number to call or anything and he even started filming our conversation. The council should be ashamed of that it operates this way and employs jobs worths like him. Given that you can easily operate a "pay at the end" system it leaves me to believe this is purely a money making operation! Added to this the traffic is bad getting in and out at the shopping centre is awkward get to it is a place I will be avoiding like the plague and I suggest others do to!! Thanks for a terrible and expensive day out!!
