- Geoff HSissinghurst, United Kingdom17,833 contributionsA lovely parkWith exceptionally well-maintained paths, this is a park which is both wheelchair and pushchair friendly, although it's a bit of a push from the lake at the bottom. There's plenty of grass for picnics but there's also a reasonably-priced cafe. Colourful, clean toilets and a small car park at the entrance. This is now pay and display (it used to be free). A lovely, dog friendly park.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 February 2024

The event was marred by horrendous weather. Nice stalls lots to see and do but the chef event had seats but waiting you suddenly get told to go get tickets and lose your seats. Good clean toilets feel sorry for the organisers with dreadful weather.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 July 2024
- Geoff HSissinghurst, United Kingdom17,833 contributionsA lovely parkSecond time visit this year and as lovely as ever. Well maintained paths and, apart from walking, you can have a boat on the lake, watch the geese, use the exercise machines and, if there are any children with you, they can use the playground with its own dinosaur. If the grown-ups are interested, at one end of the park there is the Victoria Cross Grove commemorating those residents of Royal Tunbridge Wells who were awarded the Victoria Cross in the First World War. For refreshments, there's the excellent Dunorlan Park Cafe (not dog friendly inside, but you can sit at the tables outside with your four-footed friend).Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 September 2024

On a sunny day, Dunorlan Park is really colourful. It is an ideal place for walking, with well-maintained paths (which are both wheelchair and pushchair friendly). There's a large boating lake (for the energetic) and plenty of grassy areas for picnics; although there is a cafe offering drinks and value for money snacks. The only drawback is that the car park on the main Pembury road is smallish and, if you arrive at a busy time, you may have to wait for a space to become available.

Coming from Ashford we had arranged to meet friends here so to ensure safe social distancing. Unfortunately parking is dire and having got in the car park we were stuck as people decided to stop and wait for spaces to become available!!!
We managed to drive the 15 minutes to our friends home instead and walked in from theirs, parking in the housing area.
The park itself is pretty and well maintained. We enjoyed the pédalos too and these were a fair price.

I have visited this place so many times since I came to live in Tunbridge Wells in 1952.
It is peaceful, quiet and most important of all so well looked after. A visitor could spend a whole day here. Do not take my word for it. Just go there and have a taste of not just the coffee at the cafe but also to breather in the fresh air, watch the wildlife and much more.

This is such a nice and massive park for such a small town. There are a variety of things to do here, such as eating in the cafe, feeding the ducks and renting a boat/kayak. When I first found out about this park, I was surprised on what it had to offer and I have revisited this park a dozen times or more.

Once the private grounds of a Victorian millionaire's mansion, Dunorlan Park is an excellent open green area in Royal Tunbridge Wells. An excellent place for walking with well maintained pths (both wheelchair and pushchair friendly, although the hill down to the lake is fairly steep) and benches for watching the abundant birdlife, Dunorlan Park has two distinct area; a formal area, where dogs should be on a lead, and a less formal area, where dogs can run free. Apart from walking, there is also a boating lake, a large children's play area and an outdoor gym. This pleasant spot is also ideal for picnics, although there is a cafe. There is a smallish car park on the Pembury Road and colourful toilet facilities are available in the park. An ideal place to spend a day.

We accessed Dunorlan Park via Halls Hole road. Entrance isn’t sign posted but it’s easy to find and there are 2 car parks on this side of the park. Park is free to enter, path leads straight to the Boating Lake. Paths are well maintained. There is a choice of craft to hire from the Boat House, (pedalo, canoe or rowing boat). Check website for prices and opening times. Safety kit included where necessary. Happy friendly staff help you to whichever type of boat you’ve hired. Beware of the crocodile!
Park has lovely mature trees and lots of space for the kids. Toilets and a Cafe onsite. Kids play area and plenty of space to lie back and have a picnic. Overall a good well maintained park to kill a few hours in.

A lovely park to stroll around or hire a boat on the lake. Cafe was good, boat hire was OK at £8 for 30 mins. The fountain and Greek temple look fantastic and we also took a walk to the VC Grove at the far end. We enjoyed this park and will return.

We live nearby and used to go to this park quite frequently but we’re put off during covid as it was so busy with mums and their pushchairs who like to walk side by side along the paths so anyone else has to walk on the grass as they do not get out of the way, we went today and there were less people about but the mums with buggy’s were still there unfortunately. Why do they insist on walking side by side. Just have some consideration for others and walk behind one another to let people past.

Is there somewhere to store valuables at the boating lake?

As far as I know there isn't, there is a boat house and things could be left with those running the boats but I doubt there is any kind of safe.

Yes, dogs are allowed. On a lead is best because of the children and the water birds, but I have seen people exercising them off the lead. Also seen owners risking drowning trying to retrieve their dogs from the lake.
