The staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. Food delicious. Fires were roaring. The kids goodie bag was thoroughly enjoyed. High chairs were available. Plenty of parking. Hubby and I have avoided this pub for a while due to previous bad experience but it really has changed for the best! So much so , that I've already made a return booking... More

My husband and I used to go to the Smarden Bell regularly, however, due to various changes in landlords, lack of good food and wine, we didn't frequent. WOW how things have changed with the new landlord, full of lots of fun, warmth welcoming and some great traditional pub food. The Smarden Bell really has got it's soul back, whether... More

I grew up in the Ashford area and the Bell was a regular haunt for me and my friends. Over the years I have returned now and again and particularly in recent times have been disappointed that the quality and friendliness had fallen significantly. I have just been back to the area over the new year for a family get... More

This was a first visit (we've recently moved to Smarden) and I am sure we will now become regular visitors - and drag family along at every opportunity. The sunday lunch menu was reasonably priced £13 one course, £19 two and £23 for three. Our starters of wild mushrooms in madeira cream were scrumptious and the roast beef lunch was... More

Having been a long standing part of the bell, I must say the current owners have made a fantastic job not only of making you feel welcome but also making the entire dining/drinking experience one to be enjoyed. The menu is such that it should appeal to all tastes, there is a beer or wine to suite all palates, overall... More

This was our first visit to the Smarden Bell, and we were very impressed with the pub it's self, the service and most importantly the food. This is a real kent country pub that is off the beaten track, but well worth the drive. The atmosphere is friendly, the service discreet yet attentive, and the quality of the food .....excellent. We... More

We recently had lunch at this pub. The food was very good and there was a varied selection. My husband is gluten free and this was no problem. It is an attractive pub with beams. The prices were all reasonable and we would recommend this establishment.

We have just had a fantastic meal, the chef was available to talk to us. He is obviously very passionate about food. Will visit again. Highly recommend the restaurant. Thank you Tristane. Kay and Keith

Had a 2 course steak meal with friends on a groupon, was greeted well on arrival & taken to our seats, we noticed one half of the pub there was a private party. We ordered our 2 courses & got chatting with friends, after an hour of no starters we complained tobe told they were still getting the buffet food... More

Our second visit as the first was so good. The meal I had looked forward to wasn't on the menu, but the helpful young lady asked the chef who agreed to cook it for me! We are not regular customers by any means, so this was great service. Staff were attentive during our meal but not intrusive.
