About
Pearson Park was Hull's first People's Park, having opened in 1861. It has recently been restored to its former glory with funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The park comprises a Victorian conservatory which houses a variety of plants, as well as a lake, a children's adventure playground, a cafe, an Adizone outside gym and a bowling green. The bridge over the lake and the colourful, Victorian style bandstand are two popular newly installed 'lost' features from the original park. Pearson Park also boasts a number of interesting and important historic artefacts including: the restored statues of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, a grand Entrance Gateway, an historic drinking fountain, the cupola from the city's old Town Hall and a large monolith in memory of Zachariah Pearson who gifted the park to the people of Hull.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It’s an old Victorian park in a vibrant area of Hull. I thought it was pretty small, but then I’m used to parks in bigger cities than this. We thought it was nice enough and clearly it’d had money spent on it recently, with a replica bandstand put up. From previous reviews, clearly it needed it. The statues of Victoria and Albert are worth a look. I wouldn’t recommend a special visit but worth going to if you’re in the area. The entrance arch is very impressive.

We visited Pearson Park after reading that the archway had been restored. It's now a stunning entrance to the park. As we walked around I was pleased and impressed by the other renovations that have taken place.

What an improvement to Pearson Park - the renovation work is fantastic especially the archway, the conservatory and the bandstand. I am looking forward to taking my Grandson when the weather picks up and activities are able to go ahead once more.
I recommend a visit to see the transformation from what was previously a neglected area of Hull.

Perfect day out for all ages. We have been lots of times over the years and loved the Autumn Trail! Staff around the park are lovely & very knowledgeable. The regeneration of the park was much needed and it has been fantastic to see the project develop over the last couple of years. Wouldn't hesitate to return. Feel very lucky to have such a beautiful space to enjoy and it's well worth travelling to from other areas of the city and beyond if you love outdoor spaces!

We had a lovely cold but sunny visit to Pearson park early this morning following a recommendation from friends!
We were pleasantly surprised by the transformation that the park has undergone since our last visit (about 7 years ago)
Everything was really clean and well kept! The children’s park looks pretty new and exciting so we shall definitely be returning with our nieces in the near future!
Pearson Park is quite a hidden gem and definitely worth a visit!

Visited today for the first time in years. The park was busy with people of all ages like us needing to get out in the fresh air. It was actually lovely to see so many people enjoying such a beautiful place! What a difference to when my kids where small, I was quite touched by how the place has been restored to it’s former glory and the arch looks fantastic. Well done to all involved. Grandson and I spent a good couple of hours just wandering around taking it all in, great day, Will definitely be back.

Pearson park looks amazing! It is obvious a lot of work and effort has gone into bringing the park back to being a great open space. Fond memories of going to the park as a child and returning as an adult did not disappoint. A great balance between original features (I remember the twisty climbing frame as a child) and a good spruce up makes it a lovely environment to spend family time.

We’ve visited Pearson Park regularly over the years and sadly have watched it’s demise. The renovation work that has been done has been completed in an aesthetically pleasing way. The entrance archway, the conservatory and the bandstand are superb. The lake and surrounding grounds are well maintained. The whole experience of being in the newly renovated park is a wonderful experience. Well done to all involved in this project.
Thank you.
