Well, I must admit to being biased, I think it is one of the most beautiful places there is on this world and I have travelled to most. This was my umpteenth trip here and I was hiking with my boy's. On this occasion we were walking the Great Langdale Valley, Pavey Ark, The Pikes and Bowfell! Each time stopping... More

We have recently been on holiday in the Lake District and nobody can deny how beautiful it is. However, we noticed in all the main attractions that a new car parking charging system is in use. This charges £2.00 for the first hour and 45p for each subsequent 20 minutes. The system uses Number Plate Recognition Technology and the clock... More

I wish I had seen the reviews on white moss car park before visiting the place in May . We have just had a letter about a parking fine , over 3 months later. We know we paid for parking but they insist we haven't paid. Why do the national parks allow this company to cheat honest people out of... More

We recently joined the caravan club specifically to take advantage of the many excellent sites they have and this site certainly did not disappoint. We particularly wanted to climb Coniston old man and explore the Torver commons and Coniston areas and this site was a perfect base for doing that. We were able to do an 11 mile circular hike... Without a doubt the scenery is spectacular, but beyond that if you are not a hiker, walker, climber, canoeist then there is very little to do ( unless you want to spend a fortune on boat trips etc). Parking fees are a joke, the towns and villages are for the most part run down with little or no local crafts... More

We didn't have much time, so we drove throughout the park and only sometimes got out of the car. Despite the rain, the nature was stunning.

Year round... whatever you want - you'll find it here! "Waterworld" with Mountains (hills, dales, valleys, dells, rivers and fells). Just outside the park area you'll also find the sea, beaches and The Solway Plain. Roman remains, some of which are World Heritage Sites! Churches, Castles, Manor Houses and Manses. Fishing, and manner of watersports. "Come one - come all!"... More
