This is a well known place to sit and watch the view and take photos, even a total incompetent like me can get a scenic picture. Not too difficult to get to for most people but watch out in bad weather/winter as it's very sloppy and the drop is enough to get your attention!

Jenkins crag is reached by an upward walk from Ambleside through a wood which can be very muddy after wet weather but a great view is always there during the walk & at Jenkins crag across Windermere. From Ambleside, this can be part of a really nice walk into Troutbeck & back with great views all the way.

Try and fit this in to your Ambleside itinerary, the walk up through the woods is lovely and the views from Jenkin Crag are well worth the effort

We were staying in a B and B just in front of the signposted start for the walk. Took a gentle morning walk up there, a Sunday morning, and saw quite a few other walkers. The walk through the woods was nice, with intermittent views down to lake Windermere. When we arrived at jenkin crag we were amazed by the... More

The views are wonderful over Windermere from a natural rock slab. Would recommend visiting on your way back to Ambleside from Troutbeck after descending Wansfell Pike.

We decided to take a walk after breakfast and wanted to include ‘Jenkin Crag’. This walk starts opposite the Hayes Garden Centre between Ambleside town and the Lake. It’s a good path/track that climbs up above the rooftops and into a wooded area. ‘Jenkin Crag’ is clearly sign-posted and the views from the top are brilliant (make sure you take... More

Amazing view of the lake and hills beyond, takes your breath away...can't say anything more. A good end to the 10 miles we walkled from Kentmere to Ambleside.

There are so many brilliant views in the Lake District but this one is truly breathtaking. Walking through Skelghyll Woods, which are really pleasant you suddenly see the sign for Jenkin Crag and it is a well trodden path that leads to an amazing and totally breathtaking view

Easy to walk for a view over Windermere Lake. If you are not a hill walker then this is for you. There is a well marked clear path from the village of Ambleside

The Jenkin Crag + Troutbeck loop is a classical walk from Ambleside, for you gain access to the Lake Windermere views, as well as nice walking through the hills. Do not hesitate, take the road !
