    What a gem!
What a hidden gem to find in Ambleside. My 3 year old son absolutely loved it! Being able to climb in the huge pile of tumbling stones was a highlight of our holiday. He was so proud to give his chosen stones to loved ones afterwards. Reasonably priced activities and products. We will absolutely come back when returning to Ambleside.

    Best crystal shop!
1st time visiting here, and was definitely worth a visit . Beautiful shop with lots of interesting crystals and Reasonably priced. Customer service was amazing from the girls, especially the young girl with red hair, very knowledgable about different crystals and friendly. Happy with my purchase and I look forward to my second visit
Thank you we try and do our best : )

    Brilliant experience
My younger son thoroughly enjoyed the rock pit, choosing his gems and then looking around the shop in awe of all the treasures. He also really enjoyed the dinosaur room. We bought my other son a lucky dip bag for £5 as he wasn't with us. He was extremely happy with the bag, it had some lovely treasures inside and it seemed to be well worth more than £5. The shop had treasures for all budgets. Both sons are excited to visit again.

Although the rock shop itself is interesting the Dinosaur Den is a waste of £5 per child as the treasure hunt all happens (7 clues) in about a 3 meter circle. It is very dark although they give you a torch to use. Only the fist clue I’d a bit hidden in a very small sand pit the others are so easy to find. The child does get a small prize of a key ring.
Would go to the shop again but certainly not waste money in the dinosaur den

Thanks for the review and your opinion regarding Rockshop's Dinosaur Den...at the rockshop we are always open minded to our customers requirements....did you mention your problem with our team members on the day? We would have been very happy to offer a refund or alternative instead of you having to vent here on Tripadvisor. As well as finding a genuine Dino fossil inside the den its also full of replica dinosaurs and fossils and crystals....of course it's not on an escape room size but i still feel it is a fun 15 minute experience for a family. To put your opinion in to context last year (2022) 3000 people completed the dino den...we do get a lot of children who are too scared to go up once paying and they always get a refund or generally go in the gem pit...as i mentioned if its not for you...just mention it to one of our friendly team and they will gladly sort the problem out. Sincerely Jonathan Burhouse Rockshop Ambleside

My wife and I visited this shop as she likes to buy crystals and from that viewpoint we weren't disappointed. I bought my wife an excellent piece of smoky quartz which will be a wonderful addition to her collection. The crystals, tumble stones, geodes etc are of the highest standard available in a shop like this and I would recommend a visit to any interested in such things. A word of warning, however. The man who served me was deeply unpleasant and filled the atmosphere with negative vibes by staring at us constantly and then bullying me to pay before I had finished looking around. The assumption that I wanted to pay by card when I had the money in my hand was offensive also. This took the good out of the experience for us and we had to cleanse the crystal we bought of negativity before my wife felt she could enjoy its presence in our own home. So, if you like good crystals and can handle negative shopkeepers, go ahead and make a visit, though we won't be doing so again.

I really enjoyed going in the pit of gems so fun spent good 45mins looking at them picking them out. It would been nice when I asked to do the pit if I wanted bag or box. As I asked how it worked said pay then go in but I thought was great value for ,£5 Might have come back with my friend she loves crystal to.

This is a nice little shop with some great activities and so we've visited a few times now. On the first visit, we bought my daughter a 'Dinosaur Den' cap which she has worn pretty much every day for a number of years. Recently we tried to purchase a replacement cap over the phone only to be told "Oh no, we've only got limited stock, so we won't sell you one." How very odd. It's not often you find a shop unwilling to sell their products because they don't have many left. My daughter is not the only one disappointed with this service (or lack thereof) especially as we have been unable to return due to lockdowns and distance.

Amazing shop! We visited this shop today as we had a break in Ambleside for our anniversary, as soon as I walked in I was amazed! It’s got everything you could wish for and more, we spent a good 15 minutes just looking around and felt very welcome to browse. I told my son about it when we returned home to Manchester and he can’t wait to get involved, planning a birthday treat for him right now. Can’t wait to return! Thank you x

Drove 2 hours just to go to this shop after seeing it all over TikTok! I love crystals so couldn’t wait to visit.
I purchased many items as well as a few bags to collect some tumbles from the gem pit.
We were a bit worried we wouldn’t be allowed in the gem pit at first as the sign says ‘children’s bag £5’, however, the women behind the till gave us the bags and told us just to watch out for any little children which is fair enough.
The area is beautiful and the shop was well worth the long drive. I will be returning again in the future for more!

A super shop with loads and loads of minerals both natural and polished. The prices were very reasonable compared to what we have seen elsewhere. We took our grandchildren and they were fascinated by the upstairs dinosaur fossil hunt attraction. I think it cost a fiver but adults went in for free. The children all got to keep one fossil which they had to find. Children could also climb into a massive pool of polished gems and fill their own treasure bag with gems.

Very fun! We drove an hour to Ambleside after seeing the shop on TikTok. It was relatively quiet when we visited. The crystal pit is reasonably priced. We would recommend visiting if you are passing or plan on visiting Ambleside.
