    Fascinating gems/rocks
This is a wonderful place to visit with every rock /gems/jewellery you could wish to see.A truly fascinating place where children can sit/play in amongst gems and fill their own bags to take away.Lots of wonderful gifts etc. The only downside for me is that dogs are allowed inside(seems to be the norm everywhere we went) I do not agree with it.I was unfortunate enough to be "attacked" and charged at by a small yapping dog,and although on a lead the owner was ignoring what it was doing. There were lots of children in there at the time. I'm just glad it didn't go for a child.Otherwise excellent place, worth a visit.

    Crystal pit
I really enjoyed going in the pit of gems so fun spent good 45mins looking at them picking them out. It would been nice when I asked to do the pit if I wanted bag or box. As I asked how it worked said pay then go in but I thought was great value for ,£5 Might have come back with my friend she loves crystal to.

Don’t bother with the dinosaur den.
Although the rock shop itself is interesting the Dinosaur Den is a waste of £5 per child as the treasure hunt all happens (7 clues) in about a 3 meter circle. It is very dark although they give you a torch to use. Only the fist clue I’d a bit hidden in a very small sand pit the others are so easy to find. The child does get a small prize of a key ring. Would go to the shop again but certainly not waste money in the dinosaur den
Thanks for the review and your opinion regarding Rockshop's Dinosaur Den...at the rockshop we are always open minded to our customers requirements....did you mention your problem with our team members on the day? We would have been very happy to offer a refund or alternative instead of you having to vent here on Tripadvisor. As well as finding a genuine Dino fossil inside the den its also full of replica dinosaurs and fossils and crystals....of course it's not on an escape room size but i still feel it is a fun 15 minute experience for a family. To put your opinion in to context last year (2022) 3000 people completed the dino den...we do get a lot of children who are too scared to go up once paying and they always get a refund or generally go in the gem pit...as i mentioned if its not for you...just mention it to one of our friendly team and they will gladly sort the problem out. The dinosaur experience was great. Quite quick but so well done. They do advise it is for over 8s for the scare factor but the quiz is better suited to 3-6 year olds. My two loved it and we're pleased with their treasure.
We then enjoyed the rocks pool and the children loved choosing the rocks they liked and filling their bag.
It doesn't take long, but it was exactly what I expected and it was a lovely addition to our day in Ambleside.

Great, friendly customer service and some interesting pieces for sale. It's a good job I live so far away or I would always be in here and have no money left!

Absolutely shocking customer service.
The lady at the desk was extremely rude and unhelpful.

She gave us no direction on where to go or how to pay.

We ended up leaving with our children.
She completely ruined our day.

Great place for a youngster who loves collecting stones and fossils. Our 6year old grandson really enjoyed his visit.

Very fun! We drove an hour to Ambleside after seeing the shop on TikTok. It was relatively quiet when we visited. The crystal pit is reasonably priced. We would recommend visiting if you are passing or plan on visiting Ambleside.

Tried to get near rock pit but couldn't as rude mothers with too many kids and dogs blocking the way. Maybe a sign put up to remind people to allow others to get a look in would work?
