We, my wife and 2 teenage children, booked Mark from MJ to get in some much needed climbing and abseiling practice before a trip to Skye and an attempt on the Cuillin Munros with a Skye based Guide.
We spent a day a half day with Mark and gained all of the necessary skills and experience to successfully complete our Cuillin challenge 2 weeks later. Something we would not have without the time spent with MJ.
Mark is very experienced and shares his love and knowledge of climbing and the Lakes to entertain throughout the day. He is very calm, ultra patient and has a way of instructing that ensures you learn quickly and enjoy every aspect of the day.
The day is great value and we would highly recommend even if you just want a new experience in the beautiful scenery of the Lakes.

This was our fourth time with Mountain Journeys, and we all had yet another fantastic trip! We booked 3 excursions in total; a family gorge scramble, a family climbing day, and a 1-1 climbing session for myself. The weather was a little unpredictable during our stay, and Mark was great in making some alterations to his schedule to work around this. As always, he was awesome with the kids and made an effort to keep them safe, yet allow them the freedom to have as much fun as possible. The 1-1 climbing session was about as perfect as it get; fun climbs, mind-blowing views, and we had the crag to ourselves! If you're in or around the lakes, I would thoroughly recommend booking an excursion with Mark at Mountain Journeys.

If your in the Lake District and want a expert guide to take you out on a adventure then contact Mark at Mountain Journeys. I booked direct from the website and Mark got back to me the same evening with several options on climbs for the weekend we were in the Lakes, we knew the weather would be in our favour and went with Marks recommendation of doing Helvellyn. We not only had fantastic weather but in Mark we had a personable, expert and friendly guide who made the experience even more amazing. Our route catered for my wife who although has regained base fitness after treatment, still needs regular breaks and a gentle pace, Mark made any stops interesting with a guide to the local land marks and a description of the other peaks in the mountain range. After a fantastic summit around noon in brilliant sunshine we were treated to a brilliant off piste (but safe) descent back to the Valley. We all had a truly awesome day out and will definitely book with Mark and Mountain Journeys when we return. Scaffell Pike is next. 👍✅🏔

This is fantastic to hear, thanks so much. It was a pleasure to meet you all and show you around the Helvellyn mountain range. What a perfect day we had for it too.
Hope to see you again later this year.

We did Ghyll scrambling in Church Beck, Conniston. Mark was our guide and was excellent from start to finish keeping in touch regularly before the event to make sure we were prepared, and discussing different options for the day. On arrival Mark took the time to explain the different options to all of us and tailored the event to our requirements, the equipment provided was excellent and provided great protection from the elements. I have done the church beck ghyll scramble previously with another company and although very good, the experience with Mountain Journeys was by far a much better experience. It was challenging for four adults and quite extreme at times, but Mark was extremely supportive and excellent company and I felt that he designed a route that challenged us but also kept us safe at all times. I would highly recommend mountain journeys for any event and I will definitely be contacting them again for my next activity in the Lake District.

Did canyoning at Church Beck.
Mountain Journeys offered fantastic communication throughout and were great value too! Our guide Sam was extremely professional and made the trip extremely fun while also providing reassurance on the safety side. Would definitely use Mountain Journeys again the next time I'm in the Lake District.

Booked the family adventure day, with a mixture of abseiling, scrambling and rock climbing (with two adults and two 13 year olds). Our guide Mark was really friendly and knowledgeable and made us all feel at ease throughout each of the activities. He quickly matched the challenges with what we were comfortable with and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole day. We'd thoroughly recommend Mark and Mountain Journeys for anyone looking to experience the beautiful Lake District and be a bit adventurous too.

Signed up to a trail run up and around Loughrigg Fell with guide Mark during a 5 day stay. Despite wild and windy conditions I am so happy to have done it as the views along the way and from the windy summit were superb. Mark set a good pace and made sure the more technical stretches were flagged. Whether travelling solo or with family and friends, if you're keen to experience running on the fells safely I really recommend Mountain Journeys!

We did Ghyll Scrambling in Conniston with Mark- we booked with late notice but Mark was very accommodating and helped us through the process of deciding what was the right experience for us and our level. Instructions and directions were emailed to us beforehand which made finding the location very easy. Mark was the nicest guy, really friendly and chatty and made the whole experience even better- everything was explained very clearly, throughout the scrambling he took pictures and told us about the surrounding area which was very interesting. Mark was incredibly encouraging and made sure we were doing okay throughout, finding the right balance between making sure we were comfortable and encouraging us to venture a little outside our comfort zone and do things we never thought we would. The activity was great fun and we recommend Mark and the scrambling experience very highly (we'd give it 10 stars if we could)!
Thanks for a lovely morning Mark!

What an amazing climb thanks to Mark our brilliant guide. Mark took us up Scafell Pike on a rainy day in July, selecting the best path for my 10 year old son, pointing out local flora and fauna, and carefully navigating the mountainside. What a great guy!

Nearing the end of our climbing all of the Nuttalls, we needed a guide to get us up and down Pillar Rock safely and enjoyably and so chose Mountain Journeys after reading a trip report of previous clients doing the same.
The trip was uncertain and then slightly delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but we finally hit on 23 July 2020 and had a fantastic day. The guide was thoughtful, cheerful and fun, and we had no problems getting up to Pillar Rock from Wasdale Head and then up and down High Man and Pisgah before 'topping out' on Pillar itself in a near cloudless blue sky day.
We haven't done any climbing for quite a few years so needed the help, found the whole thing very clear and great fun. It was a stunning day in every respect, and a great experience led in a professional but approachable client led way,

Thanks so much for writing these kind words, we really appreciate it. So nice to hear you enjoyed the day, it has certainly been a pleasure for us to be a part of the experience. Pillar High Man is such a special place.
Was definitely worth the date shuffles and being quite last minute to make the most of a perfect weather day.
Good luck with finishing off the Nuttalls.
Best wishes
