Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had an absolutely fantastic day out with Mark doing a long hike out of Ambleside. Mark is a brilliant guide and also great company, with extensive knowledge of all things Cumbria. 100% recommend using his services, I certainly will rebook

Lovely morning climbing up waterfalls and bobbing about in crystal clear pools. Mark is a great guide, very calm, knowledgeable and provided clear instructions. Would thoroughly recommend this.

We had just the best fun with Mark doing a descent if Stoneycroft Ghyll near Keswick. Wading and floating downstream, sliding down waterfalls and trying to get out of The Washing Machine.
Mark helped us choose the right outing for our group making sure it was within our capabilities, whilst also being interesting, challenging and enjoyable at thes same time. Mark's communication was clear and informative, and his quiet, facilitative leadership style suited us perfectly.
I would highly recommend Mark and Mountain Journeys for a fab time and a way of seeing the Lake District from a completely different perspective.

We found Mark on Google after looking for a guide to help us with some more challenging scrambles in the Lake District. We found him to be extremely friendly, knowledgable and instilled confidence in something that was a little more adventurous than we would normally be without an experienced guide. We climbed from Wasdale up to Pillar rock, here we used ropes to traverse and scale the Rocky outcrop on the Ennerdale face of the fell Pillar. Once we had summitted Pillar Rock, we abseiled down into the gully.
The whole day, from the well described meeting point, to the hike in the beautiful scenery was amazing. And was topped off by learning new skills and creating fantastic memories, a huge Thankyou from me and Ashley, we will be returning hopefully soon for some more adventures with you.

What an incredible day! If youre a thrill seeker going to the lakes, this is the activity for you. Mark was an absolute angel. His instructions were clear and apot on, we had no trouble finding the meeting spot. When we got going, he made us all feel very comfortable ..chatting away en route to the gorge. Throughout, he was safety consious but without being stuffy. He tailored the whole activity to the level of our group, giving us some harder bits to try when he saw we were capable. Some of the shots he got of us were absolutely epic, and we were laughing and smiling all day. Anyone would be in excellent hands with Mark. Id go as far to say that this was the best paid activity i have ever done in the UK, and I've racked up quite a few adventures now! 10/10.

Fantastic abseiling experience for the family. Mark inspires a great deal of confidence. We all had a great time abseiling into the quarry.
Mark was very good at teaching the kids how to safely abseil.

We had an amazing time gorge scrambling with Mark. The kids (aged 6 and 8) said it was the best part of our holiday.
Mark was very easy to communicate with and was happy to answer any questions that we had during the booking process.
He was great with the kids choosing routes that would suit them best and encouraging through trickier places

Mark was a fantastic guide and made us feel safe throughout our adventure ! He took us on a great trail through the rocks and rapids that led us to a thrilling waterfall. His calm and relaxed manner made us love the experience and this would be our top recommendation for anyone visiting the Lake District. Thanks again!

There are no words. Or actually LOADS of words from our wee ones who have NOT STOPPED talking about ‘the highlight’ of our Lake District adventure. We’ve done it all, caving, boating, paddleboarding, RIB boating, 4x4 off road but HANDS DOWN marks adventure wins it all! Totally inclusive, and a few hours that will excite, engage and be enjoyed by every member of the family (ours aged 9-43). Mark is a genuinely lovely human and will make your trip here extra. Thank you mark - you’ll forever be part of our Lake District memory. X
