Stunning Tarn Hows offers an accessible circular (1¾ miles) walk through beautiful countryside with majestic mountain views. A great place to walk and picnic, or to begin your wider Lake District countryside adventure. There are also rare Belted Galloway cattle and sturdy Herdwick sheep grazing by the tarn. There is a mobility scooter available for use for those who are less able to get around the Tarn.

I would recommend walking up from Glen Mary via the Tom Gill waterfalls if able. The falls are beautiful, the walk is quite steep though and can be slippery in places. The walk around Tarn Hows was lovely and quite easy going, worth a trip.

Probably a good place for people with young children or people with limited mobility as the wide flat paths are easy to walk on. Used to more extensive hiking though we found it not very exciting and a bit touristy. probably worth a quick visit...More

What a stunning place. Lovely pathway for a gentle walk round, dogs need to be kept on leads though they can have dip! Bring lots of change for the car park!

You can spend as long as you want to be honest; but I'd say allow at least 2 hours.
