A very pleasant but short visit here today after staying at the Waterhead Hotel Our visits have been less frequent recently but a walk through the old town reminded us very much of MANY much lengthier visits in the past. It is always a pleasure to walk through the town, and although it was cold today we enjoyed the reminiscing once... More

Lovely picturesque lake. Smaller than windermere but just as lovely. Had lots of snow so looked magical. Lots of walks and picnic areas.

What a simply stunning place, had great walks all round here and really good for dog walking. The weather was very kind to us while we were there. |Stayed in Coniston village, such a lovely place.

We went on a lovely boat trip on a steam paddle boat, very antique looking. All the interesting places were pointed out such as swallows & amazons island, Donald Campbells Bluebird last tragic speed attempt, various other things, most enjoyable & not too expensive. Had food in a very pleasant restaurant right by the water and boat landing stages, Unfortunately... More

Have visited Coniston water many times now and it has become one of my favourite places. Its such a beautiful lake. Most recently hired a motor boat and took a little boat ride up and down the lake. Well worth a visit even if its just a walk around.

We have visited Coniston previously and enjoyed its location and activities going on but this time we took our dog with us who enjoyed swimming in this lovely lake.

We have come to coniston so many times and I am in awe with the place. It's just breathtakingly stunning! Coniston water has to be one of the most peaceful places I have visited. I've just come back from a weeks stay and the amount of thinking time has been spent at the waters edge. My favourite part of the... More

Simply fantastic. We stayed for a short half term break in Coniston with oldies and a 15 year old. Had a marvellous boat trip on Coniston Water with a great commentary. The bit about "Miserable Brian" the local farmer was a gem. The water itself is majestic. Maybe it doesn't have the close proximity of grand fells a la Derwentwater... More

Slightly away from the more touristy lakes in Cumbria is Coniston Water. A beautiful area surrounded by some of the lower fells. Ideal for walkers of most abilities and great for a relaxing break if you just want to sale up and down the lake on one of the launches from Coniston village.
