As we were staying in the Lake District we decided to visit as we have National Trust membership, it was an overcast day but we enjoyed our visit especially walking around the gardens and the Autumn Colours were lovely.

Hi sorry only just seen the question , you don't need to be a member to enjoy the castle you just pay at the reception , not sure what is open at the moment , the website will tell you ,you don't even need to go into the castle , you can just pay for the car park there are some great walks around there and the tearoom is always good to have a snack or even lunch 😊
