We visited on a wet Friday in September and the castle was very busy. We enjoyed the tour of the house and the chapel which was only open that day. The gardens were interesting , a lovely place to walk around.

We visited on a cool wet day but it was fun to see the gardens. We didn’t go into the house. We had a nice lunch and visited the shop and the second hand book shop. NT always great for a not so good day.

Had a great visit. Only problem is that the web site is wrong about signing in early for the house guided tour. One needs to arrive at least 45 - 60 minutes before the tour starts in order to get a place.

Hi sorry only just seen the question , you don't need to be a member to enjoy the castle you just pay at the reception , not sure what is open at the moment , the website will tell you ,you don't even need to go into the castle , you can just pay for the car park there are some great walks around there and the tearoom is always good to have a snack or even lunch 😊
