My boyfriend booked for us to go Canyoning for my birthday and it was so much fun! We were a bit sceptacle because it was February and very very cold but the kit that they provided was really good at keeping us warm which made the whole experience very enjoyable. Our instructor, J, was really friendly and funny, but also very knowledgeable about the area. He was good at settling any nerves we had by clearly explaining how to do the hard bits. Would 100% recommend anyone to do the canyoning, it was a great opportunity to see parts of the lakes that you wouldn't normally get to see!

We did the paddle boarding on Derwent water, up the upper Derwent river, and jumping off a bridge. It helped that the weather was very good, but due to tour leader Jaye’s gentle and supportive instruction it was a perfect afternoon. He pointed out fish and birds and landforms, told stories about the area and his life, and his appreciation of his job and the area made it a special experience. Jumping in to the cool river Off the bridge was so much fun. We recommend booking this trip in the morning as car parking space by the lake is harder in the afternoon.

My son & I wanted to book something different/exciting while we were visiting the lakes for half term & found ghyll scrambling with Keswick Adventures. It was exactly what we were hoping for. The surroundings are beautiful & the ghyll itself is unreal! Natural water pools, water flumes & waterfalls to jump in/slide down & scramble around on. Lewis took us & he was the perfect guide, he made it exciting for my thrill seeking son & I had the option to opt out of some of the scarier stuff if I wanted to. We were new to the area & Lewis made some excellent recommendations for other things to do while we were there. I’d 100% recommend everyone tries ghyll scrambling while they are visiting the area. Thanks for having us!

What a great company and experience all round. We did the Ghyll Scrambling experience, it was amazing and we had the best fun. Lewis was a great guide, helpful, friendly, chatty and amongst all the fun he had time to educate us on edible plants in the Lake District!! I would definitely recommend this experience and company. One word - amazing! Myself and partner went Canyoning at Stoneycroft Ghyll with instructor Jay.
Kitted up at their base (easily accessible albeit with limited parking which posed no issues), short but scenic drive to a car park near Stoneycroft Ghyll by Jay, in-depth health and safety/procedures when abseiling/traversing the Ghyll, short but gorgeous walk to Ghyll entry and then the fun began!
Descended through the Ghyll for approx. 2 hours - Jay set up numerous independent abseils and traversals on the way down, lowered us down certain sections (higher water levels made this necessary), opportunities to slide/jump into bodies of water and Jay showed excellent skill and professionalism throughout which helped put my partner at ease. Jay also has an excellent selection of Dad Jokes that will keep you entertained throughout!
Overall, amazing! Would highly recommend Keswick Adventures, Jay and Canyoning in general!

At 74 I did think I was pushing my luck a bit BUT the team were great - helped when needed with th odd pull up- and gave me every confidence. Also I felt no shame going frontwards down the falls not backwards. Do have a go, it's refreshing, challenging but achievable, rewarding and crisp and clean. 15 year old loved it too. The gear is first rate with a thought to the water temperature and wetsuits to match. At no time did I feel cold or uncomfortable even with slightly inclement weather ! A grand trip out!

Brilliant afternoon Ghyll Scrambling. Richie and Jay were fantastic - professional, humorous and sensitive to the needs of a very diverse group. They took the time to get to know each person and kept up a running commentary and guide throughout. Well done and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

I highly recommend an excursion with Keswick Adventures to any visitor to the Lakes looking for an exciting outdoor activity. The trip was wonderful. My family and I have been coming to the Lakes regularly for over 10 years and we’ve never had a day out like our Ghyll Scramble with this company. The scrambling guides were charming and funny and put us at ease, and did an excellent job showing us what to do and keeping everyone safe and happy. They also helped break the ice with others in the group which gave us a real feeling of camaraderie with people we’d just met that day. The ghyll scramble itself couldn’t be better placed: Newlands Valley is beautiful and the ghyll made for a very interesting activity including jumping off rocks, climbing on all fours, sliding, swimming and walking. The service overall was brilliant, it was easy to park and get ready with good facilities for changing and leaving belongings and the shuttle buses to the site were a great way to see the surrounding countryside. Would particularly recommend the Ghyll Scrambling to Lakeland fell-walkers looking for something different to do other than hiking. We’re hoping to come back and try the canyoning trip Keswick Adventures runs in future or bring some friends on the Ghyll Scrambling trip.
Thank you Ian and Lee for looking after us all so well during our outing and for making it so fun.

An amazing experience with our lovely instructor, Jay, today. Great fun throughout the whole session and very informative. Even, in ever changing weather conditions on the lake this session was adapted to kayaking on a board due to wind changes . We learnt a lot about this whole experience and we can't wait to get back out on the paddleboard again. Thank you so much Jay and Keswick Adventures for making this a holiday nighlight

First of all the good part. The team at Keswick Adventures were friendly, helpful and professional. We booked a kayaking session for our two grandchildren and the instructor, Brian, was excellent with them. He made the session fun while teaching them the basics of kayaking with safety always paramount.
Now the bad part. In a 3 hour session you will spend little more than 1 hour on the water. The base is remote from the lake and you spend a lot of time completing paperwork, getting kitted up, travelling to the car park near the lake and carrying the kayaks etc to the lake. This then has to be repeated for the return.
If your activity is cancelled by the company due to any condition deemed by them to make it unsafe you will not receive any refund. You will receive a voucher for an activity at a later date. Fine if you live locally but if like us it involves a round trip of 260 miles totally unacceptable. The owners of this company must realise that people travel long distances to holiday in the lakes and this, part of the well hidden terms and conditions, is unfair.

Good evening, I'm really sorry to hear that you weren't fully satisfied by our kayaking adventure. The indemnity forms do need to be filled in before we can take anyone on an activity and you also need to get kitted up in our top notch safety equipment.
We would LOVE to have premises on the lakeshore to enable us to run session directly from the base onto the Lake but that's not possible here in the Lake District and we need to access the Lake from all of the same areas as the general public.
Our T&C's are not hidden, they can be viewed at any time via the website. We are the only adventure company who will provide anything if the session is cancelled for any reason so we pride ourselves in the fact that we can provide vouchers for you to return at another time. The voucher's don't expire so there is no rush to use them. And everyone needs an excuse to come back to the beautiful Lakes.
Pease can you drop us an email on info@keswickadventures.co.uk when you are ready to book and we will throw in a second activity totally free. Hopefully this way you will see how awesome we really are a local company.
See you again soon!

Hello, I am coming with my brother on Friday, Do you have the paddle boarding lessons with just me and my brother or with lots of other people?
Written 28 July 2021
You have your lesson with the whole group but it’s very basic and quick - the best way to learn is to get on,get wet and find your balance in your own time. I thought I’d never get the hang of it - trying to go in a straight line with just 1 paddle, isn’t easy - but I did. And at no time did I feel foolish or a nuisance . Dave kept giving out tips and encouragement to everyone. He made it fun! I hope you enjoy it as much as we did! I’m trying to get another session sorted...
