My partner and I have often got the bus to Honister and enjoyed the walking. On a clear day the views are spectacular especially across to Buttermere. The cafe at the mine is good, ice creams excellent. Even for non walkers it's worth a visit. We have traveled on the bus during poor weather for a day out.

One of the best activities in the lakes Is exposed in places and tests the nerves but it was fantastic fun went for a friend's birthday and Would highly recommended it as a good day out, our instructor was easy going but very informative of the local area and flagrant fauna. If your up for a challenge and fancy a... More

We went as a mixed aged family group from a 6 year old to a 60 year old and took the mine tour. The host was excellent and obviously loved his job and kept everyone engaged and entertained from the very start at the visitor centre through to getting into the mine. The tour was a real insight into how... More

We did the via-ferrata classic. It was brilliant the instructor was so good very safe but made it so much fun. You get the chance to buy the photos on sd card for £15 do it. It is so worth it. We left our go pro and didnt regret it.

We just called in for coffee and a look around the shop today and it's so pleasing to see this local attraction doing so well. We had previously been and visited the slate mine, it was so informative. The other attractions here are superb. If your just passing, call in you will be surprised at what's on offer here. Great... This is the first time I toured a slate mine. It was an eye opener as the guide, Donald, explained to us the history of the slate mine and the working of the mine when it was in operation then. A good tour to join if you want to take a break from the driving around Lake District. The other... More

We did the mine tour first which is very very interesting. Then the Via Ferrata. Great fun for my son and I. The guides for both were fabulous! The Via Ferrata was a bit hairy for the faint hearted but you are always clipped on and in no danger. A real thrill. A must do if you are an adventurous... More

Very disappointed with the icy condition of the car park. When you pay £5 to park your car it would be good if the car park was salted or gritted. Friendly staff in the cafe.

Knowing it was going to go dark around 4 pm we decided to do something unusual, for us anyway, and book a visit on the 3.30 slot. It was snowing as we made our way up the Hollister pass on a narrow winding road at one point thinking we had missed a turning as it is isolated. However the welcome... More
