This was our first time up Catbells on a Sunday morning in February. I enjoyed the hike, there's a few steep faces to climb towards the top summits, kids and dogs managed it, probably wasn't the best idea to go in trainers because it was quite slippy and I ended up falling on my bum in mud at one point!!... A good climb resulting in spectacular views. Bit blowy at the top but well worth the trip. Some parts of the climb were tricky for those of us with little legs

A good half-day's walk starting from Keswick rewarded by awesome views at the summit. Paths were clear but parking limited so walk from the town.

We've done Catbells a few times over recent years and it never fails to impress. We approached it from Littletown this time which meant a longish but steady climb to the top. We were greeted by amazing view over Keswick and the surrounding valleys with a bonus fly-past by two USAF F-15 Eagle jets on a training flight. A highly... More

My husband and I walked the Catbells on our first full day in the Lakes District. It was great. We came up the Borrowdale side and it was decent hike, but I think it was an easier route than the coming up from the northern end which everyone else seemed to be doing. We continued our walk down the north... More

Great for a first walk in the lakes. This walk has everything. Great views, a little scramble to make it more interesting for the kids. Recommend a walk back through Manesty woods.

Well worth a visit no matter what season. However, it is a very popular spot and can often be busy even on a dull February day but it is worth it for the magnificent views across Derwentwater to Blencathra, Skiddaw, the Ullswater range and behind to the Newlands Valley and beyond. A good 360 degree vista of lakeland joy. A... More

One of the most rewarding walks for beginners. We have taken grandchildren aged 4 and6 an they managed well. If the approach is made from Little town you have the added interest of looking for Mrs Tiggiewinkle. Beatrix Potters book is set here.It is possible to catch the boat across Derwentwater to Keswick below Catbells and spend some time there.... More

My 18 year old son and I walked from Manesty up the heights of Catbells. We were lucky with the weather as it was sunny ; so a fantastic panoramic view from the top, well worth the ache on my legs! Once at the top there is a fun scramble down some rocky parts but what was good to see,... More

Excellent walk, steep to start, then great views from the top of the lake as you go along the ridge. Parking on the opposite side of the lake, and you can walk back down a different way
