    Nice, easy walk
Did the loop walk round starting and ending at the local Premier Inn. Nice flat walk and easy to do for anyone with some fitness level as it is nearly 10 miles. Lots of places to stop and rest along the way - either for a drink in a pub/hotel or to sit with a picnic blanket.

    Stunning Lake & Islands
We had a lovely view of this lake beyond Hope Park from our Hotel (The Highfield) during a recent stay in Keswick and found it to be just stunning. Took a lovely walk right down to its shores, fed the birds and enjoyed looking across to the many islands during a lovely sunny day. Lots of people out enjoying life and smiling. Would like to try out a boat trip next time we're in town.

    Great place!
Derwentwater is one of the most beautiful places in Keswick, UK. Our country has so many beautiful places like this and I absolutely love to visit! The nature is beyond amazing. I love to walk over the bridge and specially sit down on a chair and watch the sunset.

    Rewarding walk
We spent half a day taking a counter-clockwise loop on foot around Derwnetwater, beginning and ending in Keswick. Along the way, we also hiked Catbells (the only challenging part of our day out, the rest is easy) on the western shore and enjoyed several easier points of interest like the Chinese bridge, the 100 year stone and Friar’s Crag. It’s a long but beautiful walk, along one of the most scenic and less commercially developed lakes in the Lake District with hardly any crowds. You don’t have to walk the whole distance, you can hop onto the Derwent water launch or the bus when tired (carry a map to know exact pickup points). The entire loop is around 10 miles, with several picnic stops, remote beaches and cafés along the route.

Absolute must if visiting the lake district!
We had a great time walking around derwentwater. Plenty of parking available (with toilets). We had a slow walk around on the main path until we came to a beachy area where we stayed for a while to let the dogs have a splash about. Beautiful scenery and very picturesque. There are places to eat near the main car park but we didn't go so cannot comment on how good (or not!) they were :)

    Walk around stunning Derwent
A wonderful 10mile (15km) walk around the lake. Very easy to follow and some stunning views, constantly changing as you walk around. Very easy to follow the path and a few pubs/ cafes for a stop on the way around. Had a paddle (quite a few places to go in!) a must if in Keswick, but also plenty of opportunities to do short walks around as well.

    Round the lake walk
Fantastic walk that took just over 3.5 hours. Lots to see and spectacular views of Catbells, Walls Crags etc. All in all it was over 10 miles but to be honest as it was pretty level it didn’t feel too bad on 5he legs etc!!

We took a leisurely walk around the beautiful Derwentwater Lake. We started at 10.00am and it took us until 4pm to complete the loop taking plenty of breaks with butties and drinks. It is such a scenic walk and we experienced a sense of achievement as we are OAPs.
Would like to walk the other way round next time!

I personally feel Derwentwater to be a massively underrated lake in the Lake District. On duller days the sky can look pretty moody and fierce over the lake as you look out from Friars Crag which makes an amazing picture.

Average boat tour, low rate was due to price (£35 family ticket and £13.50 per person) for a 50min boat trip without commentary! The scenery is beautiful, and even better if the weather is good, but a little local history would make it more pleasurable!
