Just returned from a 4 night stay in keswick. In the 4 days there this was the only pub we managed to get in. Other pubs said seating only if eating or you had to queue for a table
Great outside space owner said it was newly done. We moved inside when it started raining lovely inside too it all looked new
Great beer my hubbie tried all 3 which were on tap and bought a case and glass to bring home with us

Visited Keswick last year while the brewery development was in progress so was interested to see the outcome. Have done a few brewery tours over the years and this was by far the most interesting and informative. Nigel was thoroughly engaging before, during and after the tour and clearly knows the state of play in this industry.

The beer tasting was a revelation with being talked through each sample to explain the differences. Would recommend this tour to anyone interested in learning more about the industry.

Great credit to Sue for having the foresight and desire to try something different!

Fabulous brewery tour in this small micro brewery . This is an absolute hidden gem with a bar and outside seating area just a few minutes walk from the centre of Keswick.
Nigel the brewery manager was the host and went the extra mile during the 45 minute tour which we found really interesting. It provides a real insight on how a small brewery works. It is so refreshing having such a motivated and engaging host who wanted to ensure all the tour participants enjoyed the experience.
We were provided with a small drink to start with and Nigel provided an overview of the history of the brewery and how it has been developed over the last few years. At the conclusion we were provided with three 1/3 pints of the brewery beers, I have to say Keswick Gold is my favourite.

I would highly recommend the brewery tour which is run on Fridays at 1pm and costs £12.50 which is tremendous value but must be booked in advance. If a tour is not for you I would recommend a visit as the team will make you feel extremely welcome in a lovely safe environment.
You can purchase drinks to take home in bottles, pouches or small kegs. The bar is open Tuesday to Saturday between 2pm-7pm.

Several years ago we paid and visited Keswick brewery for a tour. We were really impressed with its welcoming staff for such a small business. At this time and each year since we have attended and purchased items from the shop for ourselves and for gifts. Over the last 12 months we have visited Keswick a number of times eagerly awaiting the opening of the Fox tap so we could enjoy a beer after a walk or cycle ride. Having fortunately been allowed to take our holiday immediately after the Covid lockdown, we made sure that we checked that the outside bar was open. On 20th April 2021 we went to the outside bar which wasn’t too busy. Ironically as we walked into the seating area my partner suggested that we sit close to the door so they don’t miss us and we get served, but oh how ironic that was. We waited five minutes with the bar staff passing us at least three times, but being understanding we saw a couple of other couples who hadn’t been served so we were in a queue. These other couples got served within a couple of minutes with an apology for their wait and the bar staff walked past us again twice. At this point my partner said we aren’t going to get served here but we agreed to wait a further ten minutes because we like the beer. During this time the staff passed us around three times and looked around to see who needed to be served. They made eye contact with us as we tried to gesture to them but they ignored us. Annoyingly the staff served two other families who had entered the bar after us and also decided to take time speaking to people they knew and serve them with a second drink. This was the final straw. We left the bar, walked to Wetherspoons which was very busy, but we were served within five minutes after ordering on the app. As sad as this may sound this poor experience and a lack of service has put us off attending somewhere we would ordinarily spend money at when we were in Keswick. Disappointing.

I am very sorry to hear you had such a wait when you visited us. We would never ignore or intentionally serve someone out of turn. We have been under extreme pressure with table service being so time consuming, especially as the weather made us exceptionally busy. As a small team we work as fast as we can. We are increasing staff numbers to keep waiting times to a minimum. We do chat with customers as we serve them to help them choose a beer. I hope you will give us a visit again next time you are in Keswick and enjoy our beers again.

Booked this for my boyfriend, who really likes his craft beers. He has been on a number of brewery tours and I haven’t done any, so we came to this from totally different starting points but still both really enjoyed it and found it very informative. Nigel, who presented the tour, and the other staff were all really friendly and welcoming and very knowledgable. The tour took just the right amount of time (50 mins plus the beer tasting) and was great value for money.

We Visited the Keswick brewery on a brewery tour the tour was great and very informative Nigel and Sarah knew there stuff and welcomed us with a beer and a friendly smile.
The tour took about 45 mins then we went back into the bar area where we were treated to a trio of beers to try all included in the price of the tour £12 a head. The bar soon filled up with lots of other customers who obviously used the bar regularly and the atmosphere was great. We enjoyed our visit and would definitely recommend especially on a wet afternoon in December but I’m sure it would be good anytime.

After finding the Fox Tap on our last trip we eagerly awaited a return. Post walk it was nice to seat outside, take in the atmosphere and enjoy a pint other than the Marstons or Green King on offer in much of the town. We popped back a couple of days later for a couple of drinks on a quieter day, the beer good.

Only downside was the first visit the barmaid was a bit robotic, it wasnt busy as I was the only customer inside, no interaction apart from "that will be £***", then the second visit the chap with the beard was a bit condescending. A total change from our visit in November, we chatted and got to know the brand more.

We visited the brewery after a long walk for a well deserved beer. The staff we friendly and informative and although the tours were not operating due to Covid. The staff took the time to explain the brewing process and recommend different beers for our personal preferences. The brewery itself is lovely and modern and has a seating area for a quiet drink. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back again. Thank you!

This is by far the best beer garden in Keswick, with superb ale and knowledgeable staff.
The brewery has long-served local pubs and supermarkets. Then a couple of years ago they opened their tap room bar. Then You-Know-What happened and they relied on carry out/mail order purchases to keep going. Last year’s Easter brew was relabelled and all profits went to the local food bank.
Like lots of hospitality venues in the UK they are suffering staffing issues from a combination of COVID and Brexit. But they are worth supporting, and if it takes a while to get served please appreciate that they are aiming high in ethics and quality.
I’m not associated with the brewery but am a massive fan, and wanted to write this having seen some recent reviews.
It is an amazing spot to drink brilliant beer. The yard catches the afternoon sun and you can see some of the Derwent fells.

We visited the The Fox Tap whilst staying in Keswick. Having reserved a table before our visit, we arrived and was quickly show to our table, whilst others were arriving only to be told the indoor section was full. We ordered a beer each from the list available and both were very pleasant. An oversight on my own behalf I’d forgotten the early closing times, so that only gave us an hour and two beers each before they called last orders for the evening. An error I won’t make in the future if we visit again, where I’ll get there earlier and book a longer table reservation!
