Busy High Street
May 2021 • Couples
Recent visit to The Lakes & stayed near to Lake Windermere so Windermere & Bowness were our local areas to shop.
The High Street is busy (even though lockdown 2021 restrictions were just starting to ease.
An eclectic mix of shops, including some interesting ones selling local products.

some good bars and restaurants
Aug 2020
We stayed just a few minutes walk from the high street, so it was nice to be able to walk to the shops to buy our groceries. Good little selection of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars.

Windermere holiday
Oct 2020 • Family
We are staying in a holiday let just off the front street and it’s so good to have all of the facilities within a stones throw.

There’s a booths supermarket for a ‘proper shop’ and a cooperative and Sainsbury’s for convenience items.

The high street itself has plenty of eateries and shops to browse and a few art galleries.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Will be back.

Go Early
Sep 2020 • Couples
Great little high street with good mix of shops, cafes, restaurants etc but parking can be difficult due to the number of visitors. Go early or late to avoid the crowds and it will make the visit a little more enjoyable.

Lovely array of shops! 😊 But 50p to use the public toilets! 😑
Aug 2020
A plethora of shops, cafes, restaurants and an art gallery. A Co-op, a Tesco Express and a Sainsbury's! Spent a lovely couple of hours here.

I would have given 5 stars had the public toilets not had a 50p charge to use them! These are the most expensive public toilets I have ever come across!

Great range of everything!
Aug 2020 • Family
We stayed in a small cottage at the top of the high street. We had access to a great range of shops, great restaurants and a nice easy walk to Bowness and the lake. We didn’t have the best of weather but the area is still really good and we all enjoyed ourselves during the visit!

Small town
Feb 2020 • Family
Small town with lots of eateries and gift shops. Interesting for a potter around. Parking tricky but early birds before 8am can park all day for £1 in designated areas. Co-op and Sainsbury’s for self catering , lots of estate agents and holidays letting agents. Wouldn’t make a special trip but staying close by it was worth a wander.

Good
Nov 2019 • Couples
Nice shopping area with lots of small chain shops, independant shops and galleries. Lots of eateries to take time out and have food and/or a drink. Doesn't take long to go around the town, but is worth a couple hours of your time.
