My wife and I rather fancied a cruise on Windermere and even though we were unsure if it was the `off` season and boats were running, took a chance anyway. We are glad we did and settled for a circle of the lake on MS Teal. It is indescribably calming to be on a boat that is too early in... More

Apart from Storm Doris and the fact that the Lake District in general is an expensive area, the people there are delightful, the scenery is breathtaking and the area draws out the latent Outdoor pursuits interests in all of us.

We gaze out at it, we walk by it, we cross it be ferry... We come here almost every year, and have a hotel room looking out over Windermere lake. This morning we walked by it. Always stunning.

Staying at lake Gilpin we had to see it when in the area, it was great to see but I wouldn't set it aside as standalone attraction make sure you have other things planned or its an 'on the way' activity

The Lake District is one of the special spots to visit in the United Kingdom and Lake Windermere is the most special place to visit. Take a boat ride on the lake or just spend some time at it's edges. You will not regret the visit.

20 million gallons of water is pumped out each day to serve Manchester - just one of the many facts you learn on the boat from Ambleside to Windamere.

We went on a lake cruise which was fantastic! The boat was clean and the journey was smooth and steady. The scenery is beautiful and is something I love to do whenever I'm in the lakes. Just remember to get wrapped up warmly at this time of year as it is freezing on the open deck.
