The weather wasn't brilliant - but we didn't know what to do, after some research we found this place!
It was 100% worth it. The views were out of this world and would definitely be back.

Lovely walk from windermere to Orrest Head, well signposted, you can't go wrong. Paths are fab, steps a little slippy near the top but only because it was a damp day. Well worth a look up if your anywhere near.
Lovely walk up to Orrest Head on 28th December, amazing views of Windermere once the cloud broke.
Well signposted from the top of the village, lovely walk through the woods to get to the top, even met a gruffalo along the way 😊.

There are two main ways up to Orrest Head. One is paved for all but the very top, the other is across fields & through woods and can be a bit muddy in places if the weather has been wet recently, so sufficient footwear is advised. However both routes are quite easy - it is always permissible to stop & rest for a few minutes if you are finding yourself getting a bit breathless (on the second route across the fields there are a couple of spots we stopped at & admired the developing views as we got higher.) The first route is so easy even pushchairs get taken up. Good advice already given about wearing/carrying windproof jackets for when you get into the open at the top.
