About
Brockhole on Windermere offers activities to suit everyone, from toddlers to adventure seekers to those in search of an ultra-relaxing experience whilst enjoying their time in the Lake District. It's all here in one place, set against stunning mountain views on the shores of Windermere in the Lake District National Park, Cumbria. From family activities to glorious garden tours and seasonal events, there really is something for all ages. Why not explore 30 acres of beautiful historical gardens and grounds? Or picnic by the lakeshore and enjoy secret beaches with the family? If the children are feeling more adventurous they can swing or bounce through ancient woodland on Treetop Trek and Treetop Nets. Down by the lakeshore, you can hire kayaks and rowing boats, enjoy or catch the cruise boat across the lake, depending on the season. There's also archery, bike hire and mini golf on offer during the season. Don't forget to finish your day by taking in the stunning lake views offering stunning views towards the distant Langdale Pikes at the terrace café, while enjoying local ales and dishes. There's also a well-stocked gift shop and ever changing exhibition space to enjoy indoors.

Nice enough place to visit if you can get parked. - something made less likely by the fact that the Lake District National Park offer free parking to locals (by postcode), thereby making it harder (and more expensive) for everyone else.

So people who already live in the heart of the Lake District are given a distinct (&free) advantage in accessing publicly funded services despite already having that advantage purely by dint of where they already live.

Lovely place with an amazing children's park which was free and delicious ice creams. We also got the boat to ambleside and Wray Castle. A perfect day out for all the family that didn't cost the earth (11.00 per adult, children under 5 free). Well worth a visit if in the area.

Thoroughly enjoyed visiting here. We are a couple who visited with our cocker spaniel, Rusty. He had a great time running on the grassed area and strolling round the various walks.

If you have children there is loads to do and we didn’t think the activities were over priced. Brockhole itself is free to walk round, it’s just the activities that cost, along with the parking. I believe everything can be booked online in advance. There is archery, boat hire, paddle boarding and a fantastic looking zip wire and tree top escapades. You can also catch boats to Bowness and Ambleside from here. We were lucky enough to stay in a hotel within walking distance so didn’t have to pay the parking charge as we left our car at the hotel.

Fantastic day out for families, couples and to meet up with friends.

Took my grandson to the archery at Brockholes.
I understand the need for safety rules, however I don't expect over half the allocated and paid for time to be taken up by the instructor talking when you just want to shoot some arrows.
Managed to get four rounds in before told it's finished.
Disappointed and not worth the money in my mind.

This was such a good find. We rented a motorboat and went out with our wee dog for an hour. The staff were superb and even when we managed to kill the engine by accident at the other end of the lake, they were so quick to come out to help us and were so professional and friendly!

The laser clay shooting was also brilliant. The instructor made the session fun and even with such a mixed group of people participating in the class we all left feeling like friends.

We loved Bowness on Windermere but coming down to Brockhole was so much more relaxing, prettier and a lot cheaper! A brilliant day out.

We don’t have kids but there was loads of fun activities for them without it feeling like a busy crèche for those without kids!

Thanks

I went here with my hubby, dog and friend whom lives in kendal, it wasn't particularly good weather all the time we we're here but after mizzly rain there was sunshine so all in all OK.
We got free parking because of our friend been a local so that was lovely, we had a walk to the lake, then sat and had a drink near lake, our dog 🐕 harry had a great time, sniffing and paddling. We then walked around for abit longer then made our way up through the gardens to the eatery and shop, had a lovely lunch 😋, then had a look in the shop and spent some money 💰, then once skint had a walk back to the carpark. All in all a great day out with lovely people and our pooch.

We had a lovely few hours here today. We took part in the archery which my son had been excited to do, the instructor (Lizzie) was so lovely with him and very encouraging even when he missed the target. We enjoyed the mini golf, which is a little tired but we still had fun. The adventure playground was fab, my little guy had fun. The high ropes and tree top trampolines looked brill so would come back to do that. The walks are nice and the views beautiful. Only down side is it could work out as a really expensive day with the cost of everything.

Lovely day out. Mini golf very reasonably priced and lots to do. Playground is wonderful just slightly small for the amount of people there. As the toddler area was really full many wanted to be on the area for older children and inevitably got stuck and had to be rescued. Also some adults were sitting on the play equipment meaning it wasn’t useable even though there were plenty tree logs to sit on.
Nice areas for picnics and to relax.

We came here as a family of four to do the treetop trek. We pre-booked as it does get really busy. It was the first time for my 8 year old girl doing anything like this so she was quite nervous. The ropes are quite high. We tried to encourage her to try a few of the stations but she was in tears and was terrified of falling, no matter how much we explained that you can’t fall, you’re attached to a harness.
There was a guy working below and he was brilliant trying to talk to her and keep her going. She got past 3 of them but he could see that she wasn’t getting past her fear so he came up to talk to her. In the end he took her back down with him to the start. You have to go forward to go back to the start as there are people behind you so he attached her to his cable. By the time she got down my husband had finished and it gave me and my other daughter time to finish the course.
I didn’t catch the guys name but he was so good and helpful. He had ginger hair and glasses. I just wanted to thank him for making our daughter calm. There is lots of other activities to do here and we will definitely be back.
