This was a very enjoyable visit to the unseen side of Blackpools heritage tram fleet, I grew up with these in service and seeing the all hard work that goes into the old fleet going strong is truly remarkable, there are 5 staff employed by Blackpool Transport to keep the fleet running with the drivers and conductors being volunteers. We couldn’t go into the sheds as the roof has been condemned and is out of bounds but bear in mind the building is nearly a century old. The tour guide - Bob and his 2 colleagues were very knowledgeable in the information being given and I highly recommend this to most people. Do bear in mind though that you are in essence entering an operational tram depot with rails into the sheds so the ground is quite uneven and rough and not suitable for prams, pushchairs and some mobility aids.

It was a most enjoyable day and I had a marvellous time enjoying every minute of it (well maybe apart from the thunderstorm as we arrived in Fleetwood). The whole experience was magnificently organised and it was great to take part in a “first”. All of your staff were so friendly and professional and added value to the tours.
I was very impressed with the simulator experience and could quite happily have stayed there all day. The tour of the depot was most interesting and informative with the two “Daves” providing great information.
Even having to leave home at 4am in order to travel over from East Yorkshire and get there in time did not dampen my spirits and the day was worth every penny of what it cost, both financially and emotionally.

We had an incredible time on the Heritage Fish & Chip Tram Tour on 15th November. The experience was unique and truly memorable, combining delicious food with a scenic journey along the illuminated promenade.
The conductors were exceptionally helpful, ensuring everyone was comfortable and well looked after throughout the evening. The quality of the fish and chips was excellent – freshly prepared, flavorful, and piping hot when served.
The tram’s route provided spectacular views of the famous illuminations, which added a magical touch to the evening. It was a perfect blend of nostalgia and excitement, seeing the vibrant lights from such a charming vintage tram.
The only slight hiccup was the timing of the chips being served. Some passengers were able to finish their meals before the tram had even set off, while others (like us) experienced a delay in receiving ours. However, this minor issue didn’t take away from the overall enjoyment of the evening.
We’d highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a unique way to experience Blackpool’s illuminations – great food, amazing views, and a truly nostalgic journey!

We booked for both an illumination tour and the ghost team tour, both excellent. The illumination tram was different to what was booked but beyond their control. The ghost tram was amazing and Stephen the ghost story teller was brilliant, I could listen to him for hours. Always book tours when we're in Blackpool to keep these beautiful trams trundling along the track

We had an absolutely delightful time on the Blackpool Heritage Tram Tour! We chose to ride on the double-decker tram, sitting on the top floor, which provided stunning views of the coastline. The entire experience was both relaxing and memorable.
The 40-minute journey north of Blackpool along the coast was beautiful, offering a unique perspective of the promenade and the sea. Once we reached the stop, we had a 40-minute break to explore the area. There were plenty of charming cafes and fish and chip shops, making it easy to grab a quick bite or simply enjoy the seaside atmosphere. The return trip was equally enjoyable, with the tram giving us another chance to soak in the lovely views.
The tram itself was in pristine condition, and the historical charm added a special touch to the ride. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, sharing interesting facts about the trams and the history of the Blackpool Tramway.
This tour is perfect for families, couples, or anyone who wants to experience a piece of Blackpool’s heritage. It’s not just a ride; it’s a step back in time with a chance to appreciate the charm of these iconic trams. Highly recommended!

Amazing!! Went on the Halloween ghost tram tour and it was so so spooky! Not only were the stories really spooky but they were so well told. Even spookier that the tram lost power on Halloween whilst telling ghost stories, you couldn't make it up, it was so spooky and cool and they handled the situation amazingly. We've done this tour before and the stories are always varied and very interesting. I honestly can't rate this enough! If you do one thing in Blackpool, book to go on a ghost tour on an old tram, you won't be disappointed!

Went with a group of friends to the ghost tram on 3rd October. Our host, Stephen Mercer dressed as a Victorian gent, told us spooky ghost stories about the various buildings on the journey. The evening was great value for money and a fun way to spend time with friends. Stephen is very knowledgeable and real engaging storyteller. Excellent!

You cannot use your free travel pass on the trams, cash and card payments are accepted.
Adult fare is £3.50, deals are available, day returns, weekly passes, enquire on the tram.
Three of us, all adults, got a taxi from town to our hotel, the fare was £7.60 on the trams the same journey would have cost £10.50.

Enjoyable and very informative tour, only disappointment was not being able to get into the tram shed but understand fully the reason. It certainly would have helped from a photography perspective and also a better view of the trams stored at the rear of the shed. Hopefully funds will be raised to repair the roof structure and allow full access in the future

Great fun for all the family, arrived and the heavens decided to open but the lads got everyone on early and quickly. The fish and chips were the best Iv had in Blackpool great portion size and the mushy peas were good too, was a bit worried they would be poured on top of the chips etc but they came in a separate pot which was great, we brought our own bottle of ketchup which we passed around and another family gave us some salt. You also get the choice of a can or fruit shoot type drink included. For the price I think it’s an absolute bargain you would pay that price for decent fish and chips and these you get to sit on a lovely tram while watching the lights for an hour.
It was lovely and warm on the tram too.
Would definitely recommend and will be going again.

My father is 89 and uses a foldable walker to get around, is there space on the Tram to store his walker while we are on the promenade tour? It is smaller than most childs buggies when folded. Thanks.

Hello, I copied this from the frequently asked questions section, I hope this helps ...
Unfortunately due to the age, design and historic nature of our trams there is a high step to board all of our trams, this is between 12 and 16 inches (30 to 40cm) above the ground, there is often one further step inside the tram of around the same height.
Our staff will help as much as they can with boarding but we are unable to provide direct physical assistance.
We can accommodate a folded wheelchair.
The Illuminated Western Train tram has a wheelchair lift and one wheelchair space on board, we aim to operate this tram every evening during the Illuminations subject to availability.
I hope you have a lovely time in Blackpool and Fleetwood.

How long does the promenade round tour take (Santa one, not the illuminations one)
Written 19 December 2019
It can take up to an hour for the whole round tour between Pleasure Beach and Bispham, if you board at North Pier you can also do part tours to either Pleasure Beach or Bispham.
Written 20 December 2019
where do we get the tour and what times? visiting on Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week (18th,19th and 20th)
Written 15 October 2018
Sorry, we've only just spotted the question, hope you found our heritage tram Stop ok?
Our tours this week start at 1830 and run roughly every 15 mins until 9pm and (10pm Saturday) we have extra trams running during half term holidays and weekends so you shouldn't have to wait long.
