Had a great time at the zoo, animals looked well cared for and facilities were great. We were able to see all animals and attractions/talks available in an afternoon. Definitely recommend seeing the tigers being fed as well as the sea lion talk. Did have food in the restaurant, great potion sizes for the price but would say options are quite limited so possibly bring your own food. But overall a great day out.

We were a family party of 15 (adults/children) and we all enjoyed our visit to Blackpool Zoo. There was plenty of parking but paying the fee of £4 was a bit haphazard - handing a person £4, then joining a long queue to write down your car registration!

The “Plan Your Day” map was very good and we were able to see most of the animals and also some of the shows, including Sea Lions and Birds of the World, which were entertaining and informative. We also liked Rainbow Landings where the Zoo Rangers tell you about the Rainbow Lorikeets. The animals seem well cared for by the Zoo Rangers. The Zoo is clean and well kept with indoor enclosures having taps to wash your hands.

We brought our own picnic and there were plenty of areas to sit and play areas for the children including the Dinosaur Park. There is lots of choice if you want to purchase food and drink.

A special thank you goes to Visitor Services. I contacted them by email to arrange a courtesy wheelchair. I received a phone call on our day of arrival saying they had reserved a wheelchair for me to collect. There was a £20 deposit which was refunded on return of the wheelchair. The staff were very helpful and friendly. This is an excellent service. All areas were accessible by wheelchair

We will definitely return

Our recent visit to Blackpool Zoo was an absolute delight, and we're thrilled to report that it's one of the best zoos we've ever had the pleasure of visiting. With a vast array of animals, engaging exhibits, and plenty of activities for kids, this zoo truly has something for everyone.

We kicked off our day by booking our tickets in advance, which ensured a smooth and hassle-free entry. However, be aware that you'll need to pay for parking, which might come as a surprise considering you've already paid for tickets. Arriving about an hour after the 10am opening, we found the car park already filling up, so it's a good idea to get there early to secure a spot.

Upon entering the zoo, we were greeted with a professional photo opportunity, which we could review and purchase at the end of our visit if we wished. This was a lovely touch, and we appreciated the chance to capture a special moment from our day.

As we explored the zoo, we were amazed by the sheer variety of animals on display. From the majestic elephants and giraffes to the adorable penguins and sea lions, each exhibit was expertly designed to showcase the unique characteristics of its inhabitants. Our youngest was particularly captivated by the barn filled with friendly farm animals, where they could get up close and personal with goats, pigs, and more.

But the true showstopper was the Dinosaur Safari, an immersive experience that transported us back in time to a land filled with life-sized dinosaurs. With its clever use of animatronics and atmospheric sound effects, this exhibit was an absolute hit with our kids, who couldn't get enough of the prehistoric wonders on display.

Throughout the day, we caught a few of the animal shows, including the penguin and sea lion displays. These were both informative and entertaining, offering a unique glimpse into the lives of these fascinating creatures.

We also visited the big cat's enclosure, home to a pride of lions and a tiger. Witnessing these majestic animals up close was a real highlight of the day, and we were struck by their power and beauty.

When it came to dining, we were spoilt for choice. With plenty of cafes and restaurants on site, offering everything from sandwiches and salads to hot meals and snacks, there was something to suit every taste and appetite. We opted for a picnic, but it was reassuring to know that there were plenty of options available if we needed them.

As the day drew to a close, we reflected on the many highlights of our visit. From the engaging exhibits and animal shows to the friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere, Blackpool Zoo truly is a fantastic destination for families. With its emphasis on education, conservation, and fun, this zoo is sure to leave a lasting impression on visitors of all ages.

It gives me no pleasure to post a negative review of an attraction in my hometown.
I visited earlier this week, and was dismayed at the overall shabby, run down appearance of some of the enclosures, outdoor furniture, wooden cabins, fences, paths etc…some investment is definitely needed. An unkempt impression does not add to an enjoyable visit.
After 3 hours, my family and I decided to leave.
Many people today are in tight financial situations. A trip to the zoo could be viewed as a treat, something they save up for and look forward to.
Notwithstanding the hike in the car park charge, now £4, the entire experience seems to be geared up to fleecing the visitor.

The worst of these, is the cafe.
Many reviewers have complained about the cafe. I have read reviews dating as far back as 2017, the comments attributed to those reviews still apply today.
So it is apparent that Blackpool Zoo, have no intention of acting upon poor feedback and improving the situation. There seems to be a ‘ take it or leave it ‘ attitude.
This is 2025. Overpriced, poor quality, limited choice, fast food and drink is NOT acceptable.
The cafe is in a time warp: no healthy options, indifferent staff, dirty floors, and sticky tables, do not make for a pleasant dining experience. Shocking when you consider that a lot of visitors are children. A child’s meal, consisting of a few chicken nuggets and chips costs £7.30!
I know nothing will change and the point of my review is to warn others. Bring your own food and drinks. Even the vending machines around the zoo are expensive.

Several of the animal enclosures were empty, one has been converted into a pool with toy boats ( payable of course ) and the gorilla indoor viewing area was closed with no explanation anywhere. The gorillas are still there, apparently, but chose not to come outside. So check first if you want to see the gorillas up close indoors. Lemur wood walk - through was also closed.

Blackpool Zoo’s usual response ‘ our prices reflect those within other attractions in the resort’ smacks of ignorance and indifference and the overall experience, being of average quality, does not bode well for the future.
Will I visit again?
Sadly, no.

What a great day out we had. So many animals to see and the staff were all great. Can't believe we have been coming to Blackpool for so many years and didn't ever bother going.

We spent a couple of hours walking around seeing half the animals then went and had our packed lunches. To break the day up we went into the Barnyard soft play (£3 per child if you have a zoo ticket) which is also great.

Then back in to see the other half of the animals.

As usual with attractions like these the food and drinks are expensive so would recommend taking as much food and drink as you need/can carry in a backpack.

Cheaper to prebook online.

Around £10 for a taxi from the centre.

Start off with the pros..
Great venue, lots of animals to see and the animal talks were often and interactive. Lemur walk was our favourite. Zoo was big and plenty of good photo opportunities. Map given out at start was ideal and we used this to guide our day.
Cons…
Sea lion show overcrowded we didn’t get to see it, people were queuing for at least an hour before to get a seat inside.
Extra charges for everything including train ride, bouncy castles and trampolines. Bubble wands were £12!! Extortion. Tables around food areas were dirty with food trays left lying around which attracted seagulls.

Overall though a great family day out.
I would recommend taking your own food and drinks then treating the children to an ice cream inside. Be prepared for hidden charges train ride was £3 each which I didn’t mind although I had to pay for my 6m old baby? I think that’s a-bit unreasonable.

Staff were VERY friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Pre booked tickets for the family which worked out abit cheaper, price isnt a cheap day out, but for what turned out to be a fairly full day out and compared to other zoos it was fairly priced.
Animals seemed very well cared for, staff talks were good, zoo was quiet when we visited so talks seemed personable and keepers were very welcoming of questions and answered very well, kids came away beaming.
Cafe lets the place down, zombie staff and a card machine which didn't work properly, left a member of staff to come and question us that our payment hadn't cleared, we had to explain and show a banking app to prove itd gone through which wasn't very good service. food was over priced and very very average.
Dinosaur exhibit it starting to look tired, a day with a jetwash and a couple of cans of paint wouldn't go amis!
However the zoo as a whole was good, the rainbow birds experience was excellent and the staff outside the cafe were very knowledgeable and approachable.

Having visited this zoo several years ago I was keen to take the family during a holiday to the area. A good selection of animals, nice to get quite up close to see them like in the elephant house but disappointed in that the reptile house is now just a snake in tank!
Was good to see the lions, tigers, giraffes, apes, flamingos etc. All about conservation but also about bringing in the money, we checked online prices a week before travelling and the price was £74 so we converted an appropriate amount of Tesco Clubcard vouchers, the night before out of interest I checked the price and it was showing as £80 then on the day when we turned up it would have £83 pound had it not been for the vouchers - incidentally this was for a family ticket. Want a coffee, or any other hot drink then you need to pay an extra £1 for a plastic mug which you can then present for future purchases then on leaving can either hand back and get the £1 back or you can take it with you.
Parking was another £4, payment machines in car park out of order so you had to pay a staff member on entering the zoo who then asked you to add the car details onto a form - a list of details that anyone adding to can review, not sure about that...
All in all it was an okay day, the children got more out it than I did - definitely worth a visit if you are in the area..

My husband and I took our 7 and 5 year old grandchildren to Blackpool zoo between Christmas and New Year. We try to go once a year. On our last visit a seagull swooped on our then 4 year old grandson and took a biscuit out of his hand which, whilst not physically harming him, distressed him. On our most recent visit, a couple of weeks ago, we once again took a picnic lunch. We sat on benches outside the cafe to eat. We noticed that the zoo has now added a lot of peacocks which freely wander around and as soon as we sat down one of the birds approached us looking for food. I spent our picnic lunchtime shooing not only the peacocks away but also the seagulls. However, while my back was turned, a seagull swooped down and took a sandwich out of my grandson’s hand and grazed the skin on his finger. He was very upset and it took a while to calm him down. He now says that he doesn’t want to go there again. I do realise that zoos are meant to provide wildlife attractions but surely the peacocks are surplus. Seagulls are obviously in plentiful supply at the seaside but I have been to other locations where the presence of a couple of birds of prey has deterred them from appearing. My cynical brain suggests that allowing the increasing presence of these nuisance birds is possibly the zoo’s attempt to draw visitors into the cafes rather than bringing their own food. We shall not be visiting again and shall try Chester Zoo next time instead.

Thank you for your review. I’m sorry to hear your grandson was distressed. We are very much aware of the issues regarding seagulls; like many seaside towns we do find they can be a nuisance around eating areas. Although we can deter them, we have to be very careful not to injure them as some species are protected birds - this rules out netting over the eating areas etc. We have tried many patented bird "scarers" such as plastic owls, holographic tape, even recently hiring some human "seagull deterrents" whose job is to patrol eating areas at busy lunch times to scare the birds away from stealing food. We have seen some success to these methods, however sadly the gulls are clever and soon become used to them. We shall continue to investigate new deterrents as they come on to the market and continue to educate our visitors not to feed the birds. We have always had free-roaming peacocks at the zoo; they are not a new addition and have been here for over 20 years. Please be assured if we wanted to change the policy on picnics we would simply say they aren’t allowed, however we welcome picnics. If you do decide to visit again, please feel free to ask our staff for any advice as they would be happy to help. For example, they could advise if seagulls are being a particular nuisance, the quietest places to eat your picnic would be at the top of wolves (which is undercover), the entrance of dinosaurs (the Nawala food unit seating) and the tables at lions do tend to be quiet as well. I’m sorry again you were disappointed.

On Thursday 24th October '24, We visited Blackpool Zoo for the very first time & it was AMAZING 👏.

We arrived for the opening time of 10am & the small queue was served very quickly.

The Zoo is absolutely brilliant, so much to see & explore. They had various Halloween decorations up in various areas which was fantastic.

We followed the routine, first seeing the giants tortoises & then through the jurassic park area which was so realistic. The variety of animals in the park is outstanding, everything from Elephants, Tigers, Lions, Penguins, Sea Lions to Orangutans, Gorillas, Zebra & Tapia, the
List goes on & you can see how extremely well cared for they all are.

The lake view cafe was open & there was plenty of choice. They had a concession selling burgers, fries & chichen strips, there was also a Subway & a coffee shop selling Starbucks, sandwiches etc. Plenty of toilet facilities throughout thr park too.
The Giftshop was accessible on our way out, selling lovely cuddly toys & blackpool zoo gifts, all at affordable prices.

We have visited Blackpool many times over the years but this was our first visit to the Zoo & certainly won't be the last. A fabulous day out for any age & you can take picnics with you too. 10/10 from us.
