About
The Grand Theatre was designed by Frank Matcham in 1894. This amazing space is a wonder of restoration and revival, presenting a full range of every performing artform, as Blackpool's community theatre, and Lancashire's preferred opera house.

    Very disappointing on ticket prices
This is an absolutely beautiful theatre and well worth visiting for its own sake. My wife and I regularly attend shows and plays here and try to support the theatre as much as possible. My one frustration is that the pricing for some shows is unrealistic. I am quite happy to pay a small premium if it helps the preservation and improvement of a lovely local theatre, but our recent experience shows how this is being overplayed. We recently wanted to see the Varna Ballet's performance of Giselle, but having looked at the pricing, we discovered that tickets were double the cost of those for performances ten days later at the Liverpool Empire. In the end we went to Liverpool by train, having purchased the equivalent tickets to those we would have bought for The Grand, and still ended up about £35 better off (even after the train fares) than if we had driven eight miles to Blackpool. It gives me no pleasure to write this, but if ticket prices do not become more competitive, this lovely venue will end up putting itself out of business. We will definitely continue visiting the Grand, but do not intend to be taken for mugs, and will be looking at prices elsewhere for touring productions.

    Beautiful theatre
Rocky horror show Last nigh, Absolutely brilliant! My absolute favourite theatre, beats London & Manchester hands down. More leg room seats more comfy. Staff are absolutely amazing. We take our Grandaughter to the Panto each year she’s loves it, and always a brilliant show.

    Grand experience
Great time on 2 recent visits Jon Robertson comedy , solo and Rocky Horror opening night with partner. Dress circle great perspective view in small but elaborate theatre, bar staff pleasant & reasonable prices, text ordering interval drinks works well & worthwhile. Will be back , we attend many shows in native London and this certainly a very pleasant theatre experience.

    Great Show - Wonderful Staff
My hubby and myself have been visitors to the lovely Grand theatre for many years now, and last Friday we saw The Buddy Holly story which we thoroughly enjoyed. Again last night (April 30) we enjoyed Big Girls Don't Cry which had a great talented cast Also, and perhaps most importantly I would like to thank your staff in the theatre for their help on both nights. My hubby now uses a walker and on both occasions the young men on duty took the walker to the parking point for us and brought it back in the interval and again promptly at the end of the show, which was greatly appreciated. I am sorry I don't know the young men's names. We will in future try to get seats nearer the parking point for walkers, but thank you again,

    Fabulous Theatre
One of the many benefits of moving from Essex to the Fylde Coast has been the Grand theatre in Blackpool. Fabulous venue with a good variety of performances. This week I’ve seen Buddy (musical), Pride and Prejudice Sort Of (comedy parody) - which was excellent and Frankie Boyle stand up. Next up is the RSC with Julius Caesar. I’m a 1894 member now and it’s well worth it. It’s a beautiful theatre and the staff are great. Helpful and friendly. The box office have never failed to help me. So far I’ve sat in the stalls, Dress Circle and Upper Circle and all the seats have had good views. I lived in Essex and am used to going to London for the theatre. To have this up the road has been fantastic. Needless to say the prices are far friendlier than London too.

    Fabulous Show and Theatre!
Wonderful theatre, even in the Dress Circle, back row we had a great view and still relatively close to the stage. Would visit again if a show comes up we would like to see. Bar service very efficient. Only downside is there is no air-con so was very warm, but we coped.

    Too warm
The Grand Theatre is completely amazing. We sat in the stalls, there was a small lift down there, which was great, but when we got there, the toilets were 3 steps down. The theatre is beautiful the seats have been replaced, but are still comfy. It was a warm day and was way too hot. I nearly passed out. We'd definitely be back .

    Beautiful theatre, excellent shows
The Grand Theatre is in the middle of Blackpool. It has many plays and events throughout the year. The interior of the theatre is really worth seeing on its own. It is really fabulous. We went to see Cirque. The seating is comfortable with good views of the stage. The lighting and sound system is very good.

Worth the admission to see this incredible theatre that opened in 1894. The Victorian architect Frank Matcham's brief, was to build the "prettiest theatre in the land” he certainly achieved that. The staff are friendly and helpful, I am registered visually impaired and found the directions/assistance to locate my seat helpful. The toilets were clean. Finally the show we saw.. the haunting of Blaine manor was excellent. So much so that a fellow theatre goer was back for a second viewing. The cast and production team rightly deserved the standing ovation we gave. The Blackpool grand theatre is on my list of must return to entertainment venues when I return to Blackpool

Opening in 1894 it has an ornate façade including a dome in green tiles. The architect’s commission was to build the prettiest theatre in the land. And it continues to be very pretty.

Since its launch it has provided enjoyable entertainments across a number of genres.

There is a negligent lack of fresh air and ventilation!!! Great history to the venue, I visit around 3-4 times a year.

Do not visit on a warm day/evening as potentially dangerous - at best very uncomfortable experience At my latest evening show, I estimate the temperature inside to be 25-30⁰C, accompanied by stifling humidity, with both audience and staff visibly sweating.

At the interval, 70-80% of the audience spilled onto Church St and Corporation St to grab fresh air (via rear of Stalls fire escapes, kindly opened by staff to temporarily alleviate heat). People were forced to grab multiple marketing flyersc each from the foyer, purely for use as makeshift fans. One lady in the stalls nearly fainted. Couldn't wait for the play to end so we could leave.
I reported my concerns over audience welfare to 2 members of staff during the interval bit was told "the building is old and can't be fitted with air con". A response that translated to "it's just the way it is". Come on guys, it's the 21st century - this is not acceptable - even some plug in units would have helped enormously.

I was excited to visit the venue as I have only ever been once many years ago. The theatre itself did not disappoint. Beautiful ornate historic decor, very warming and filled with charm.
The disappointment was that I had to ask for my Pre-Paid Pre-Ordered Pre-Show drink which was to be delivered to me at my seat. I went to ask a member of staff who sent me to someone else at the other dide of the theatre who said he didn't know why I was sent to him as it was the other guy's domain and my drink will be with me shortly. By this time 20 minutes had passed and the show was due to start and I caught the attention of a guy in a grey suit with a walkie talkie who couldn't have been more helpful. He radio'd for someone to bring my drink to me and apologised and soon after my drink arrived, with an extra one complimentary which was a nice gesture.
At the interval I collected my other Pre-Odered Interval drink but was again disappointed. The plastic cup was barely half full. I know I ordered a smaller Wine but I was expecting more of a fuller cup especially for over £5.
I think some of the staff do need a little more Customer Service training and the Pre-Order Service could be improved.
