- harriett2323Leicestershire, United Kingdom3 contributionsMemory LaneAbsolutely amazing and such a memory lane trip. I tagged along thinking it would just be a few things to look at and oh my what a surprise. We got there at 11 and left at 2:45 because there was so much to do and see! And we could have played on so much more for longer. The volunteers are so knowledgeable and committed and they spend time showing you round and talking to you about the different rooms. You must go it’s such a magical place with so much to do and see. Very good value for money.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 22 October 2023
- Kallen2 contributionsA superb little jem of a museam - playful, nostalgic and welcoming. This is a wonderful place to visit - my family and i are not big gamers, but we all enjoy playing some computer games or arcade games from time to time. The older ones have memories of amstrad and sinclair computers and this place is full of wonders of nostalgia - even Ceefax!! Volunteer run by staff who are kind, caring, knowledgable and happy to spend time helping visitors. A really great place, worth a visit for sure.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 29 October 2023

- Avril ALeicester, United Kingdom43 contributionsNostalgicSpent almost 3 hours here today. There's so much to look at - consoles, VR, arcades, magazines and much more from decades past. Went along with someone whose into gaming, but did find it interesting. They sell snacks if you need to fuel up whilst there. There was a comfy sofa to sit on too.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 November 2023
- Lindsay T1 contributionWould absolutely go againI'm NOT a gamer yet I had a really great time. For the gamers, in our group, it was more than that. There was those who remember happy times, in days gone past, and those who discovered how things used to be. The entry price was very reasonable, equally so the cost of snacks and drinks. All staff were helpful and friendly; the atmosphere was relaxed.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 20 November 2023
- Andrea C1 contributionPerfect for showing children old videogamesPerfect day out for the family if you have a passion for home computers and old school videogames. Unfortunately, the opening time is very limited as the museum is managed by volunteers. They told us they are moving to nearby premises that are double the current size of the museum. I cannot wait to see.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 17 December 2023
- DJGibbonBurton upon Trent, United Kingdom23 contributionsGreat Geeky Day Out!Had a fantastic day out at the Retro Computer Museum. As a middle aged geek, I couldn’t help greeting every loading screen and obscure bit of hardware with little whiffles of excitement. The kids had a fantastic time - I have been instructed in no uncertain terms that we need to get Lemmings working at home ASAP. Loads of games to play and memories to uncover - we will definitely be back.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 7 January 2024
- Dan HLeamington Spa, United Kingdom7 contributionsA gem of a placeThis really is a hidden gem of a place. Loads of old computers and arcade machines and you can play on them to your heart's content. There's also some original VR Virtuality machines (the company was based close by) and loads of enthusiastic, knowledgeable staff. The move to new units is brilliant & there's way more room than in the previous one. I've taken my two boys twice and we can't wait to go again!Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 11 January 2024
- Elaine S1 contributionFabulous place for computer game fans of all ages.Fabulous place to spend a few hours. My son, aged 31 and grandsons, aged 7 and 10, loved playing on all the different consoles and games. The volunteers were all very friendly and helpful. Excellent value for money at £24 for a family ticket. I look forward to returning and seeing the planned additions; hopefully this includes a cafe area with comfy seating for grandmas! I did try my hand at a couple of the games but sadly I don't think I'm a natural!!Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 21 January 2024

A fascinating collection of retro computing/gaming hardware and literature, RCM is a gem worth visiting if you are any kind of fan of gaming or computing. The focus is mainly toward gaming and the history of gaming throughout the last few decades, with all kinds of different consoles and computing hardware ranging from the 70's all the way up to the present day. The collection present here is pretty hard to beat and it's all available for you to play with, so make sure you set aside the whole day to visit here!
The day I visited, they were serving food and drink pretty much all day - all reasonably priced and good quality too. I understand it was a special event though (I attended the Legendary Gathering) so they may not serve food and drink on other days the museum is open, but I'm not certain about this so check before you visit.
The only slightly strange thing for me was the parking for the venue, which the situation wasn't clear until we arrived and had to ask someone, but we were all sorted after 5 minutes. You can park next to the unit in the 'A' marked slots, or over the road in front of the Windsor building.
Thanks for such a great and unique experience and I look forward to returning soon!

After stumbling across this museum whilst searching for things to do I was surprised to find it was almost on my doorstep and I'd never noticed it! For myself and my husband, both in our mid-forties, the consoles and games took us straight back to our childhood and forgotten memories. My sons (20 and 14) thoroughly enjoyed all the retro games and spent hours working their way around the different consoles. The staff were very friendly, helpful and informative. Such an extensive collection if all things gaming, and a must visit for anyone with even a vague interest in gaming.

A unique place, even moreso now they have moved 100m or so into larger premises. RCM has an arcade and VR room with games on freeplay, a console / home computer section with multicarts and a cafe/bar with tasty hot food at reasonable prices (£3.50 for a pulled pork roll and chips, £4 for chicken curry and rice at time of writing). What makes it unique though and the best part of the museum for me is the library which has pretty much all the published books and magazines from late 70s onward, as well as originals of most of the games for all the home computers and consoles - all accessible and can be read/opened for that perfect nostalgia (as opposed to look but don’t touch!). Regularly serviced toilets and an outdoor seating area which has a covered area for karaoke, live music etc and enthusiastic, knowledgeable staff just tops this all off. Excellent.

What a fantastic day me and my 7 year old son had here today. I’d booked it as a surprise and he had no idea what to expect. His face lit up as he saw the wide variety of gaming systems he could play on.
We arrived shortly after opening at 10am and stayed until closing at 3:30pm. We could have easily stayed lots longer.
The systems were easy to use and the choice is endless. We played together and separately as once he had the lay of the land, I felt comfortable to allow him to explore at will.
The staff (who I might add are volunteers) were extremely helpful and had great suggestions for games if you have them an idea of what you wanted to play.
The museum also boasts an amazing collection of magazines, original boxed games and many other quirky items including a Sinclair C5. There is even a selection of snacks and drinks for sale to keep you posting on through the gaming.
For the fun and the amount of time we had to play, the entrance cost is outstanding value. We are very much looking forward to returning and finding a few more classic games.

I regularly go to each legendary gathering event. Whether you're going solo, a couple, friends or family; you'll have a great day out. On Legendary nights you'll also have extras such as hot food. All the staff are very friendly and informative. It's fantastic to see all the old systems and play on all the games. I couldn't highly recommend this place enough over the many years I have visited here.

Fantastic! A wonderful nostalgic and fun afternoon spent either playing on games from yesteryear or gazing at the expansive amounts of old consoles, games and literature. It is a proper Alladins cave. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic as was Andy the curator who was happy to take the time to share some of his expansive knowledge and enthusiasm onto myself and my two boys. He even kindly gave me a copy of a DVD he made called "Memoirs of a Spectrum Addict" which in itself should be saved as a historic documentary on the thoughts of the many developers and programmers at the time. A truly wonderful place and well worth the very reasonable entrance fee. If we didn't live 3 hours away we would be back a lot more often!

Don't let the title museum fool you, all the machines on display were made for playing and you can.
Great day for the kids introducing them to the games I grew up playing. Now they want to go back every chance they can.
Friendly, knowleable staff, who can tell you the history of many of the games and machines if you want to know.
Snacks and drinks available to buy on site, to keep you fueled up.
Can't recommend this place enough!!!

Really great museum with a massive selection of retro computers, consoles and arcades which are all free to play after the cost of admission. Staff were really friendly and know a lot about the hardware on display. A great place to visit if you're into your old gaming history and enjoy breathing in sheer nostalgia!

What an amazing collection. The retro computer museum is run by a great bunch of people who clearly have a passion for the subject. If you are into retro gaming or video games or just computers in general this place is a must. You can play and experience retro games on systems you didn’t even know existed. Absolutely first class day out. Thanks to all the team there it was excellent.
